Gearbox teasing possible reveal of Borderlands 3 for PAX East

zHoovMY.png

A follow up to the Borderlands series might be announced soon, as Gearbox has started teasing their plans for this year's PAX East. The company shared a picture on Twitter that features a desert and the words "Exit 3", telling fans to wait until March 28th to see what will be revealed. This on the nose hint seems to indicate that Borderlands 3 will see an announcement, and follows multiple other teases from Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford regarding the number 3. The last time we heard anything about Borderlands 3 specifically was two years ago, when a very early proof of concept demo was shown off. After that, the developers had never confirmed whether the game was being worked on or not, though Take-Two, the publisher of the series, has said that one of their "major" IPs is set to receive a new entry before the end of the next fiscal year. If it all adds up, we'll likely be seeing Borderlands 3 later this month.

How many times has Magic Randy teased BL3 and never actually done it? I'd sooner eat a shoe than believe him.

I know the pre sequel was technically another dev team but I fail to believe they would have had no creative control.

I loved Borderlands 1. More than I probably should. It had its flaws but it was good, and the DLC showed they had some clue about what to do.

2 had reasonable mechanics but the story, the humour felt like it trying too hard and everything else felt a bit overloaded and failed to gel as well for me, though split screen co-op definitely did it for me (it is hard to screw that up, though some have managed it).

Please let it not be true. Borderlands is one of the worst things.
What is the matter with borderlands as a concept? Stylised co-op shooting in a dry and somewhat dark humour filled world. Can happily make a good game out of that, as indeed I would probably point at 1 with its DLC as an example of.

Google isn't very helpful anymore, you get recommended loads of crap that doesn't solve the thing that you're looking for.

@K3Nv2, afaik yeah but I also don't think that it runs on home grade routers like openwrt/dd-wrt does. OPNsense runs on full-on x86 PC hardware
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Sadly openwrt seems to be dying for support unless it's just. Anew name
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Like made by the same devs different architecture
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
idk, I mean it had a new release back in March https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/releases
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
Not sure how recent hardware it supports though
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
I mean for 1st party routers iirc linksys use to support it

  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I've turned more features on in OPNsense lately and it's getting kind of high on RAM usage, I see. Probably bump that up to 4GB soon
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
I wanna make a 8core router with support for 20gbps doesn't even sound that silly lol
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:

eventually this desktop is going to act as a server too, just for the hell of it. Because this PC is WAY fucking overkill for how little I use it.
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
And once I do that, my desktop OS that I interact with is just going to be a virtual machine and use GPU passthrough to connect everything
