It's not as crazy of a coincidence as you might think

In 2002 there was SARS

in 2019 there was SARS 2 (covid)

in 2012 and onward there was MERS (a coronavirus in the middle east) that got at TON of media attention in 2013 around the time that was posted - and I remember being afraid of MERS in 2013 myself

he was most likely referencing the MERS corona virus which admittedly never did come for many people - less than 1000 people died of MERS and mostly in the middle east
