Gamestop has launched a new branch of its "Powerup Reward System" which now allows customers to receive retro video games as rewards. These include but are not limited to games from Atari 2600, NES, SNES, Playstation, Genesis, and N64. The feature was just added recently and has an ever expanding library of games available. Some popular titles available include Street Fighter II and Super Mario World. The only issue is that the rewards seem to have very high redemption values, for example, Metroid for the NES is 39,420 whereas some of the highest rewards in their catalog do not cost anything close (you can get a new 360 controller for less points, and it costs over 10 times as much as a copy of Metroid).
Despite this it is a welcome addition to Gamestop's reward program and hopefully they will add titles and lower prices soon.
