I bought a SuperCard Mini just for my GBA Micro, now it's the smallest NES in the world. GBA roms require patching, and some are a little glitchy, but this combo is great. Good review, I love the Micro.

Man, I miss my Micro. Back in the summer of '08 the local Walmart had two or three dozen units left and they were selling 'em at $30 a pop. If I'd stocked up on them I could've made a pretty penny, that was right around the time they were getting really hard to find, and even the used system prices were near $40. I'm almost wishing I hadn't sold mine, but by the time I did I'd lost my last GBA-sized flashcart anyways.

I always kind of wanted one, but there was no point because I had a DS when it was released.

Also, I haven't really played GBA games since the DS came out. If it had GB/GBC compatibility, and was like $30, I would probably get one just to have.

Edit:

HAHAHA! I just saw this when I Google'd to see how much they were now!

Love the GB Micro. Play it nearly every day. Got the EZ-IV cart with it. Works great. I bought mine 2 years ago off ebay with 4 games for the low price of $29. Then bought another one last month for $30. More games, two carrying cases, and original box. Awesome system.

I got one of these last fall from gamestop, used maybe once, with the awesome little case for 20 bucks. I had always wanted one, but had a SP and didn't see myself wasting the money on a new one when they came out. I play mine all the time and it's great for study halls in school, where it's easy to hide.

My only complaint is that the little case picks up dust really fast, and then I find myself spending time picking off all the little dust thingys because I'm a bit ocd about those kind of things.

they retailed at 99 bucks and i got my brand-new sealed 20th anv. edition for $65 with shipping off eBay about 2 years ago. i'm happy and it was money well spent. before i had a dingoo a320 the gb micro was my exclusive travel system. i use to carry my ds all over the place but i had a few issues with dust in the shoulder buttons. one time it took me about 2hrs to get the dust blown out of the left shoulder area, after that i stopped taking my ds around with me. i started to just leave the gb micro in the bathroom after egm stopped publishing, you know you got to have something to do while on the throne! to be honest if i wasn't into all the gba homebrew i probably would not have picked one up. i could not see myself carrying the gb micro and 20+ carts around with me all the time. but with the combination of a flash kit, it really is a treat to own and play.

i just wish someone still sold the m3 lite new.

A real piece of work, that Game Boy Micro.

It's kind of a bummer with all the incompatabilities, but, well, now that I think about it, it would detract from the emphasis on portability.

As always, top-notch review, Another World!

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

    but that's a long shot

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

Nor clothes 🤮 . Saves on time, soap, water and money having to wash them. :D
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
