Fallout TV series officially confirmed for a second season

Although the news leaked shortly before the show's premiere, the second season of Amazon's Fallout TV series has officially been renewed for a second season. "We are thrilled to announce season two after only one week out and take viewers even farther into the surreal world of ‘Fallout,’” said Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon MGM Studios, as reported by Variety. “The bar was high for lovers of this iconic video game and so far we seem to have exceeded their expectations, while bringing in millions of new fans to the franchise."

The show has gone over very well, getting a 94% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and an 88% approval rating from audiences. Its popularity has also helped boost sales for the games, with all four of the Bethesda-published titles appearing in the top 10 in game sales across Europe last week. As reported by GamesIndustry.biz, using games sales data that tracks digital and physical game sales across Europe, Fallout 4 was the best-selling game of the week, with the number 8, 9 and 10 spots being taken up by Fallout 76, Fallout: New Vegas and Fallout 3, respectively. Some of the classic CRPG titles appeared on the list as well, with the Fallout Classic Collection clocking in at number 43, Fallout 2 at 57 and the original Fallout at 70. Most of these sales have been on PC, which coincides with SteamDB reporting last week, a few days after the show's debut, that New Vegas, 4 and 76 had more than doubled their concurrent player counts on Steam.

Fallout Shelter, the free-to-play mobile game (also available on PlayStation 4 and Switch), has seen a significant boost as well. Before the show's debut, daily revenue was around $20,000. By April 13, three days after the premiere, it had shot up to $80,000. In that same time frame, daily downloads made a similar meteoric rise, jumping from 20,000 to around 60,000.

Despite all this good news for the Fallout show, it doesn't appear Bethesda has any other adaptations planned. Speaking to IGN at the red carpet premiere, Howard said "There's nothing in the works. Everybody asks, like, about Elder Scrolls, and I keep saying no also."

It's worth noting, however, that he had turned down offers for a Fallout adaptation "for like, a decade," and only became interested after connecting with producer Jonathan Nolan. "It wasn't forced. It was kind of a natural relationship and 'hey, this sounds really cool.' As opposed to, 'we should have a show,' right? It never came from that." While he emphasizes that he'll "probably say no" to offers for more adaptations, Howard seems open to the possibilities if the right creative partnership comes along.

Season one was... okay. I found myself drifting off during a few episodes (2, 3, 5 and 6) which doesn't happen with something that completely engages me, and the humour also didn't quite gel.

im glad i didnt watch season 1 yet. i hate watching good shows and having to wait for another season. ill just wait until they have more seasons of this and binge watch it all in 4-5years.

i never watch GOT until it ended and that was a great binge. i wouldnt of liked GOT at all if i had to wait in between seasons and remember what was actually going on in the show.
I wish I was like you but I don't want to just start watching invincible at age 60

I hope one day we get a Fallout 1 and 2 movie, or series, where the whole vibe and look of it is just like the original games. Dark and grim and creepy, brutal and wry.

Binging the show was what led to many viewers not understanding most of the character archs.

And lost their minds when the dragon maniac lost it.

Good show. Uneven in places. But thats ok.
Because it explains itself so well the viewer doesnt need to know anything about Fallout to watch it.
Season 1 is a complete story that does a great job at making the Fallout story very personal.
Season 2 Yes, Please.
PS The Bobs Buds subplot got my head spinning. Hilarious and damn frightening.

It's not worth it and this is coming from someone who has prime. I mean there's a freaking ad now and you'll have to pay them more if you don't want to see any ads. Capitalism amirite? The wife do all the shopping there so whatever I guess.
I mean yeah Amazon is a sack of shit, but not worth it? I mean i save about thrice the money i pay on shipping each year. The Video and Music Part is just a bonus.

Also to clarify since there seems to be a misunderstanding for many: Not everything on Prime has ads. There is the whole VOD part where you rent or buy a movie or a show and of course there is no ads in it. Then there is the Prime stuff that has no ads and THEN there is the so called Freevee. Shows that normally were for rent or to buy for free with ads. The ads many see before startung any video at all have nothing to do with that, were there all along and can always be skipped without any waiting periode. Im all for bashing freaking gigacorp amazon but we still have ti keep the facts clear here

I'm flat-out shocked at how good this show was.

Incredible set design, interesting political commentary, great humor, interesting characters--it really felt like a tribute to the Fallout series as a whole that had a lot of heart poured into it. It balanced the grim tone and comedy that really made Fallout 2 shine. I'm astounded something good Fallout-related could exist post-New Vegas, but here we are. Season 2 will be a day 1 watch the second it drops.
