Hardware expanding an hacked hdd

Hey Guys, i'm wondering if anyone has done this before and knows what's the easiest way

Some years ago i hacked a 500gb wd blue drive to work in my xbox360 with hddhackr but since at the time only 250gb hddss.bin was available i had to make it a 250gb drive.

Now that there are 500gb hddss.bin available i would like to expand the drive to it's full capacity.

What's the best/easiest way to do this? i would like to avoid having to fully reformat the drive if possible.
If i just flash the new 500gb hddss.bin will the xbox detected the extra storage?

Inject the 500 GB security sector into the drive.
AFTER YOU BACKUPPED ALL DATA!

You can't simply expand it.

Tkx for answering @DinohScene , i was hoping there was an easier way out eheh.
What's the best way to backup and restore these days? usbxtaf explorer was kinda messy/unstable/slow the last time i used it...
Or should i backup on the xbox itself since it supports big external usb drives now?

Unfortunately not nope.
You could just backup the saves and your profile + DLC and what not to a USB drive (or USB HDD, they support 2TB now)
Then redownload or reinstall the games.

Not sure if it helps:

I just hook the drive up to my PC USB port and use Party Buffalo. It's quick except for the time to actually transfer files.

As to the drive size, DinohScene said it all

Just do it the easy way and copy it with a USB drive or USB harddrive.

No risk in accidentally corrupting the HDD or fucking something up.
