Tax in Europe is high, especially Norway. The price for things in Norway is way cheaper than US without taxes. Just a quick question. The currency in norway is NOK. So if i buy 100 NOK and change my country, does the NOK converts over or how does it work?

This is quite lame if you ask me. Don't think I'll be bothering with the eSHOP.

WTF is lame? if there is a game that you want at a price u can afford, then buy it. if not then dont!!

Basically everything. Taxes, having to pay in increments to buy games instead of paying the price of the game alone.

They have to charge a minimum to make money off of small purchases (they have to cover merchant fees for running credit cards, etc)

That said, they really should go with Valve's model where you can either add a certain amount with a minimum (like they currently do) OR if the price of the game is over the minimum to just charge the entire price of the game.

That said... We all know there will be more stuff on the shop soon, and there will certainly be more games worth getting... so it's no loss for me.

Here in Germany Zenonia costs 69 cents in the Android market (and I believe App Store too), but on DSiWare it's 6-8€. WTF, it's the same game...

If you change your region, the system will tell you that available funds you have, can not be used until you switch back to the original region... Sucks, right?

Edit: Tried with Sudan for lulz. "This service is not available in your region" : P

thing about in europe why taxes are high is they way they run things... it sucks but at least they live well

Changed my region and system language to France/French. I managed to spend £8 and buy both Super mario land and Links Awakening. It cost 6euros for Zelda and 4 for Mario.

I saved myself about £12 since if I left it on the UK settings it would have cost a little over £10 meaning I would be spending £20 as that is the minimum spend to get in that price range lol. Im happy now

EDIT: GOD DAMN IT. Dont do it. For the DSIware games it works fine. However my freaking Links Awakening is in French. BALLS.

Cool, so I change my UK 3DS Region to "Luxembourg", so tax free?
Looking at Wikipedia
The country with the lowest tax
Saudi-Arabia 0%
Afghanistan 2% to 5%
Andorra 4.5% or 1%
Taiwan 5%
Canada 5% to 15% depending on location
Thailand 7%
Singapore 7%
Panama 7%
Switzerland 7.6% or 3.6% or 2.4%
Indonesia 10%
South Korea 10%
Lebanon 10%
Vietnam 10%
*Keep in mind that i have yet to check if the DS have those Regions and if eShop supports that region.
All are based on sales tax and there is way more here on wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tax_rates_aro...ld#cite_note-37

EDIT: Luxenmbourg actually has a sale tax rate of 15%

Does the eShop games use PAL and NTSC-U?

Neither, technically speaking... NTSC and PAL are television standards and thus neither apply to the portable game systems. If you had to say which system portables are more like, they are more like NTSC independant of what region you live in. This is because all portable hardware is identical and they don't have to worry about television standards.

Now if you meant what region GAMES does the eShop use... that's dependant on the region you set. If you set your shop region to france, you'll be playing french games with french text... If you set it to the UK you'll have English games with English text.
