Error 009-2920 when updating smm

i got a nintendo 3ds for christmas, and along with it came a super mario maker for 3ds cartridge and every time i go to update it says "error code: 009-2920" i did everything to try to fix it and I couldn't update, please help

Do you have NNID set up on there yet? You need one to download updates.
Or if you have cfw, you could download & install it manually with fbi.

The game update you mean? Download it from the eShop (if it's the same region as the 3ds), otherwise you'd need to find it on your own on the internet (don't ask me where 'cause it's against the rules).
