From my experience, my device has never updated on it's own.. it just downloads the latest update and intermittently nags you..
I've reformatted my emunand to 9.0.0-20U countless times in the last week, and manually upgraded back to 9.5.0-23U..

When you format your emunand, it looks like it clones whatever your sysnand is, once that completes, I usually fork the 2 at that point, removing the SD and wiping the sysnand then manually upgrading the emunand

I've gotten a lot of help from some people on here, the tools for manual upgrade are:

You are talking about formatting emunand through gateway menu but I am talking about doing a system format in the settings on emunand.

i used to go out to the recycling center every couple weeks and look at the crts and other electronics people would drop off. Usually screens were broken or severely scratched from being tossed around. Did find a good one here and there, but never anything like a 1080i widescreen crt.

Is it piracy if it was released for free? Not in my opinion, but I also think it's not piracy if buying it isn't owning it, and it's not piracy if you can't buy it from the original creators anymore.

Free release can have loopholes where they still make money through ads
