Emulating DS download play

Is it possible to have 2 instances of a ds emulator on the same computer can I use ds download play between them. If it is what emulator allows you to and does it run on linux

System - Emu settings - DS-mode - Use external BIOS/firmware files
Then File - Boot firmware - DS Download Play
