DSi Volume Buttons are changing brightness

I just got a cheap DSi from facebook. But I noticed that, for some reason, the volume buttons are controllimg the brightness. I know that if you press select and volume in a normal DSi it changes brightness, so I tried hoping it would change the volume. It didn't. Could you help me?

Might need to unscrew the DSi to open it, and look into fixing the SELECT button.
