If nintendo does what apple does and lets us trade in the Nintendo 3DS for most of the price of the new console. I will be fine. When the iPhone 3G came out, they allowed you to trade in the original iPhone for like 100$ or something. Made it a lot easier on your pocket.

As far as Nintendo DS games go, a large portion is trashware. I have played a lot, and I have about 80-90% of all the games ever. (I ran nds-roms.com), I don't think you could possibly finish all those games. It might just be possible if you started from the beginning and did nothing but play DS games. Except you would probably die, from no sleep/food/pooping.

I bought the original DS back in 2005, when it first came out in the UK. I was only 10 years old back then, and so couldn't really buy many games; I think all I had for that first DS was Rayman, SM64, Mario Kart and Pokemon.

Then I got an Xbox at some point at my DS sort of fell to the wayside. Fast forward to 2010, and I found my DS inside a storage box. I took it out, and began reading up on it to see what I'd been missing out on. Soon after that I found an R4 card in a small pawn shop, and bought it up straight away. From there on, I've played countless games; I've got at least 70 on my Acekard 2i right now.

I'd upgraded from my NDS original to an XL in 2010, and then a couple of months ago traded that in for more than I bought it for, and snagged a 3DS for just 90 pounds. The only 3DS game I've really played so far is Ocarina, but I don't regret my purchase; there are some fantastic games coming out.

My uncle's friend's wife's best friend's cousin works at Nintendo and told me Nintendo is planning on giving up the 3DS and making a 4DS instead.

I remember about an hour ago I was just admiring how you could adjust the DSi's brightness in game. It saved me from sucking my DSi battery dry countless times.
good times indeed!

I'm not so sure that the DS line is through yet. The 3DS is slowly gaining steam, but a lot of tech-minded people are holding off thanks to the poor battery and rumors of Nintendo integrating the second Circle Pad. There's also the issue of software. The 3DS can play DS games and all, but it doesn't last as long as a DS does, so why would you "upgrade" at this moment? I'm looking forward to owning a 3DS, but not until my standards are met.
In the meantime, my XL has seen tons of play in the year that I've had it. With my Acekard, I don't see myself losing interest in the DS line for at least another year or two. Note that I've been playing the DS since the first day of 2005. Coincidentally it was the same day I quit smoking. Maybe the DS helped me kick the habit! :D
