Where has the DSTT disappeared to?
Everyone was recommending it like 3 months ago... Is it because of NTRBoot?

    I'm so high, I don't even know!
It's around and last I knew it was compatible with NTRBootHax.

It's a work-in-progress. The NTRBoot flasher thingy is not out yet.

Yes it is. Not all DSTTs are supported but a good percentage are. In fact, boot9strap 1.3 was largely released for DSTT support (DSTTs have a very small amount of flash storage that b9s 1.2 didn't fit into).

    This flashcard I recommend. http://www.nds-card.com/ProShow.asp?ProID=157

btw, if you're looking to play DS games without a flashcard, try TWLoader, or the forwarders for HOME Menu.
With them, you can run DS games from the SD card via nds-bootstrap (included in both), although not many games are supported, so you can check the compatibility list for what games work and doesn't work.
TWLoader and the forwarders will also work with the flashcard I linked above, so many games are supported.

The R4i Gold 3DS RTS and Acekard 2i have far more features. And they are DSi/3DS compatible without TWLoader.

I knew who I was talking to and it's not about "programs limits".
I'd say that Robz8 has very few flashcards in order to have a justified opinion (at least according to his profile).

I have an R4i SDHC 3DS (non-RTS), which is a DSTT clone, and works fine with TWLoader and the forwarders.

And the DSTT clones are not very good... Honestly I prefer running R4Wood over TWLoader, it's just 1 extra step.

Yeah but I don't think that one should suggest the DSTT because flashcards with many more features cost only a few bucks more. TWLoader is not a good option for the enduser currently because not enough games are supported. It is fine for devs and people who want to discover stuff, but I don't think that it's ready for the end user yet.

There are alternative kernels for flashcards with these features :P

Maybe not for those who wants to run from SD card, but it is ready, for those who want to use their flashcarts with it.
TWLoader also has higher resolution and 3D depth, which cannot be found on any flashcart kernel.
It also has R4 and WoodR4 themes.

But you still need a custom firmware. That might require NTRBoot. That requires the DSTT to be reflashed and that can't be done without DS lite/hacked 3DS. The R4i Gold can be reflashed with all consoles and the Acekard with compatible systems.
You can't use TWLoader if you want to use a DSi/ DS Lite (and you can't borrow the card to a friend who has a DSi etc); you don't have RTS; it's not plug and play etc.

    Yeah: http://gamebrew.org/wiki/DScovered

thats the program i was referring to and it runs fine on my origonal r4 (2 gb sd max) but has massive slowdowns an my ak2i with a 8gb and/or 16gb sd . . .
this is often my argument as to why the scds2 is in my opinion is still the best ds flashcard people can bitch all they want about vc emulation accuracy but there is something to be said about true portability

If you wish to use ntrboothax, the r4i Gold is the ideal card to get.
    http://r4ids.cn/
    http://www.nds-card.com/ProShow.asp?ProID=157

but if you just want to play ds games, and have little money i can recomend
    R4 SDHC Dual-Core 2017 with r4isdhc.com.cn branding ONLY.

    http://www.nds-card.com/ProShow.asp?ProID=507

this card still has it's website

    http://www.r4isdhc.com.cn/showDownload.asp?id=10

ace3ds+ is equivalent but no longer has its' website, so it's dead card, and not sold on nds-card.com

This thread is ridiculous. To play on a 3ds it goes as follows.

    Best: SCDS2
Best for the Money: R4i Gold
    Outdated but ok: AK2i
Don't touch with a 10 foot poll: Any R4 Clone that has a year printed on it.

    Sticky it, you're covered.
