Hi,

I live in Europe and have recently started digging into PS3 jailbreaking and running PS2 games on a PS3. As far as I know, and please correct me if I am wrong, the CECH PS3 uses software emulation to run PS2 titles. I am looking to buy a PS3 which I can jailbreak to run all PS3 and all (or at least most) PS2 games. Now my options are to buy either a CECH or a Slim. I would like to know if a slim would run PS2 games as good as a CECH, since them both use software emulation, or not and why. Which model should I buy given I live in Europe ?

Here is the compatibiility list for PS3 Slim https://www.psx-place.com/threads/compatibility-list-ps2-on-ps3.1306/

Some of those games require config files to make them work. Slims are not great at running certain PS2 games that work. There's apps that you can set the fan speed and it's recommended to set it at over 50% which is somewhat loud. The other day I was playing King of Fighters Maximum Impact Regulation A (a Japanese game) and my Slim started flashing red lights like it's turning off and making beeping even though it kept playing the game.

I've never owned anything but a Slim so I can't advise on the CECH.

Its fun, I like it, even tho I'm not a big harry potter fan. Like a wizard rpg. Flying around on a broomstick is cool.

    Flying sucks ass on it
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Nuh just takes a min to get used to. I think you can upgrade or buy new broomstick also that are better.
