Kazari here. I think I caused quite a few people a huge scare about this issue, so here's the clarification: I left the group, but I didn't leave the project. I have every intention to see this translation seen to the end when I've already poured two years and half a game into it. So in that regard, it's going to be done somewhere.
The main problem with the situation was that our primary hackers have gotten busy and the setup for what materials we currently had wasn't working in the slightest, which effectively left me (a translator with no hacking experience) as the sole person in the working group. Obviously that's not going to get anywhere, so I left the group with the intention of finding anyone good at hacking who could pick the project up. (Coraje was in the hospital, so he wasn't able to respond to my messages for quite a long time, which was why I took action before talking this out with him; I'm really grateful to Coraje and the other staff at NGG that's been very kind to me about my departure, since I admit to being very sudden about it.)
Right now I've gotten picked up by a group that's translating the game into Italian as well. They've already got a setup for hacking the game ready, so nothing has to be done from scratch; instead right now I'm converting my translated materials to work with their workflow, so the project can proceed from there.
Thank you to everyone who's been so patient about the inconvenience.
Anyway, the final pressing issue right now is that I
do need another translator. Right now I'm one-manning the translation and that's just not feasible for me anymore with school getting in my way. So at least one translator would be very helpful, at least to divide the work with me, look over my text to make sure it doesn't look awkward, and help with the
massive amount of TLC that needs to be done on the currently-translated text (I started this project when I was very inexperienced in translating and frankly pretty bad at Japanese, so there are actual mistranslations in the current older patches).
If anyone's willing to help, please hit me up. I'd really appreciate it. The stipulations (as placed on the website) are the following:
- Must be accessible via Skype or some other chat client
- Must be able to use Dropbox or some other quick collaborative file sharing service
- Must be fluent in English
- Must have a certain degree of competency in the Japanese language (a quick test will be used)
