Hi, I think there is no thread yet about this game so I decided to create this one. The main point of this thread is ... well... making people know that this game exists. UPDATE: And now, also informing about it's fan-made translation.

Digimon Adventure (デジモンアドベンチャー Dejimon Adobenchā) is a Digimon video game for the PlayStation Portable based on the anime series of same title. It is the third part of Digimon's fifteenth anniversary. The game covers the entire series, and the Our War Game! movie. After completing the game's main story, an original story featuring the protagonists from the other Digimon series can be played. Early copies of the game will come with a "Digivice Ver. PSP" that can be downloaded to the PSP.

    Release date: January 17, 2013.

    Stuff about modding, translation, etc.

    0) I know, kinda stupid that I make a list and I put a "zero" item, but... whatever :p . If you want to help, you don't need to be an expert. If you are, then awesome. But you don't have to be a "complete noob" either, what do I mean? I mean that you kinda have to know some basic things like, for example, what an ISO is, but most important: you've gotta know how to use Google and use it good. It would be a waste of time trying to explain things like, how to extract a .rar file; here we should talk about more advanced stuff (for example, exclusive PSP formats, converters, text editors for games, etc)

    1) You'll have to find the ISO of the game by yourself, it can't be posted here. There may be many versions of the ISO; you should try to get the one made from the UMD without any rip, patch (for making it compatible with older CFWs) or anything.

    2) Once you have it, you'll need to extract the ISO (you can use UltraISO or a similar program), and then in the USRDIR you'll have a .CPK file. That file contains basicly everything from the game. However, you'll need to extract it first. You'll have to use a program called "CriPackedFileMaker" which you can get here: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?jwygidgmvdw (just drag the CPK file into the program and extract it). You'll have a LOT of files without extension. Those files are parts of the game. We still don't know what every ID file contains, but here's what we have discovered so far:
*GMO models are from ID00515-ID03518 (To open them, you'll have to use the program Gitmo, which you can get here: http://www.richwhitehouse.com/filemirror/gitmo11.zip ), or you can extract the models with JPCSP (as it says here)
*GIM files are from ID00000 to ID00514, excluding: ID00002,25,30,51,98.
*ID03117 and ID03118 have a list of english characters, katakana and hiragana characters.
What appears to be the menu is on ID03841 (the last one)
    *Sound and music files:
    ID03693.afs2 = 31 Music Files
    ID03840.afs2 = 10.000 Sound Effects/Voices
(use quickbms and the afs2 script to unpack, they are encoded with Atrac3Plus and you'll need the codec (search it on google)). Thanks to the user Falo for telling us about this! (and also thanks for having created an useful tool for the translation!!). After all that you'll get files with ".neo" extension. If you want to convert them to at3 or mp3 you should follow the great tutorial that the user omarrrio made
*PMF files are from ID03634-ID03691 (It's more convenient to order them by size; except the two on the top, from ID03693 up to ID3638 are the .pmf files). These kind of files can just be played with Media Player Classic, but they won't reproduce the sound (because the sound is in AT3 format). Here's a list of what correspond to each PMF file:
    WARNING! Spoilers inside!

Let's say that you modded a ID file, and now you want to test it out in your PSP to see if it worked or not. You're gonna need to repack everything, and you'll do that by the same program you used before to unpack the CPK file. I want to thank the user silverwolf689 for providing a description of how to do that. In order to repack the CPK file, you need to make sure that it's uncompressed, filename is disabled, id is enabled, and data alignment is set to 2048. Doing that will let it repack and the resulting iso will boot up. It should look like this

    3) Technically, redubing the game (changing the japanese voices to any other language) is illegal because it's the modification of copyrighted content. That doesn't mean that we can't talk about that here, and help each other, but we can not upload any game file or the modified ISO. However, a patch is different: a patch is something that does not contain files from a game, it just applies TO a game (technically a patch by itself isn't ilegal, but a patched game is). So basicly if people start working in a text translation patch and help each other, they can upload their progress here if they want to, so that someone else can continue the work or whatever (but that can't be done with a redub)

    4) If you can read the pages of this thread before asking something, it would be great. However, if this thread gets like 200 pages and you want to know something then I think you can just ask directly (I'd check the last 3 pages, just in case, but that's just me:P )

This image will tell you the controls for the combats in this game

    Update
I've been informed that the user StorMyu is working on a translation patch. If he decides to create a new thread about his project, of course that you should comment on that thread instead of this one (if your comment is about the translation). Do not even think of asking about a release date or anything like that; take into consideration that he's also working on the other digimon game for the PSP, and even THAT game doesn't have a release date (and it has months of developement).
As for the "just menu and items" translation, there's nothing CONFIRMED yet. Some users posted screenshots of menus translated, but that's all we know.

Update: Now we can confirm that there is a translation team: Roxas75 and Romsstar with the help of StorMyu. Of course that there is no release date for the patch. You can still help though, if you know some awesome program, tool, method or something to make the translation easier, you can tell us right here.

What will the patch include? The menus for sure, but I can't confirm anything else.

14/2/13 UPDATES: The translation team will stop working on this project (FOR NOW), due to technical problems that for the moment can't be resolved. Plus they are focusing right now on the Digimon Re Digitize translation, so it's likely that they'll be back on this project when they finish the Re Digitize translation.

Translation images (Work In Progress). Thanks to the translation team (Romsstar, Roxas75, StorMyu)

Other patches from the forum members (only menus, no story).

*Patch made by xhai and Liberta with the help of Kazowar: http://uploaded.net/file/g4tmos9d
(Not techically a patch: they're game files modified and that should be recompiled again in order to get a new ISO. I've tried to convert it to an actual patch but didn't success. If you want to help, you can create the patch from this and post it here. How? Just recompile the ISO (it's told above how to do so) and then use xdelta so that it compares the original ISO and the new one and create the patch.

*xhai beta patch (latest version, posted March 29 of 2013) : http://www.mediafire.com/?7tmha2fvqx0sk8u

*omarrrio's webpage of his patches: http://www.xenotranslations.org/projects/digimon-adventure/

I would really like to tell you which is the best patch so far, but I do not have much time to test the game. If you do have time, and want to test them and compare them, and post it here in this thread, it would be awesome :)

Trailer for version Alias LP's patch version 6.3 (released on September of 2013)

Thanks to the user Das_Michi (who is part of the Alias LP team) for posting it here. You can like his post here

    Suggestion
If you happen to know english and japanese and want to help but don't really want to experiment with all the softwares and stuff mentioned above, you can still help. So far we only have menu patches because it's kind of impossible to translate the story in the proper way because there doesn't exist a right tool for doing that yet. However, it woud be awesome if someone could translate the story of the game in a text file, and when the tool for the story insertion is finally made, then it would be a matter of inserting the translated text into that software. If you don't know japanese either, but you know people who do know, you can help too, by asking them if they want to do this.

Want to know how to redub the game to any language?

HERE I explain how to do it (it just works for cutscenes, not for the "gameplay" sections).

If you redub, you are doing it under your own resposability (and if you're going to upload any redubed material that you created, which you shouldn't, I'd recommend to use a proxy); the final product should not be distributed due to copyright infringement.

That means: don't post redubed ISOs or even patches (I mean patches that make the game being redubbed, not the text patches) in this thread, and you shouldn't do that in any other website either.

This "legal" stuff is discussed by the users in pages 27 and 28(do not bring up that topic again please), you should take a look at those pages if you're considering redubing.

"They still make PSP games!?" Was my first thought. But that's cool if you're into these kind of games, looks like it could be fun mainly because of the exploration, love open fields. But not a fan of Digimon so I won't be playing this.

I don't want to learn a foreign language just for video games, but I'm being pushed in that direction lately.

No one is talking about this game because we all know it's not getting localized.

Well ...there is always the possibility that after finishing the Digimon World Re Digitize patch, the same team works on this game too (not saying that they will... just saying that it COULD be a possibility...). And If they won't, then I think someone else would (I mean, Digimon has a huge fanbase... and some of them must have the skills for this job, right?)

It does look very very nice, Shame it won't make it here unless from a translation team... Also the "Digivice Ver. PSP" sounds interesting despite us not knowing how a PSP digivice would work.. I hope that too is worked apon by a team or localisation..

AARRGH! Another game that I will have to wait 3-4 years for before I can play it...
Jezus I really need to start learning Japanese now. It will save me a lot of frustration in the future.

The original Digimon World is one of my favourite games of all time and theirs two new, good looking Digimon games for the PSP that will never get localized because it's not as popular in the US/Europe any more, :( Makes me sad, lol

At least the Digimon Re Digitize game will be in english in some months (I suppose months and not years..) due to the team in this forum working on the translation.

My childhood was in that second trailer!
There might be a slight chance of this coming to America since Saban recently rereleased the entire first season on DVD.
    "might" being the keyword however.
