It has been confirmed that he will not be releasing the source to OE, he will never be returning under a different name at all and Matheilulh will not be continuing work on the OE firmware. Regardless, the last time Dark Alex said he was leaving he sounded just as determined never to return again but he still did.

I guess Devhook might be picked up again now. Keep in mind. Dark Alex is great and all but he is not the only person out there that can do cool things with the PSP.

Some of you might not remember that Booster was planning on making Devhook into a custom firmware but he said he stopped working on this after seeing the release of 2.71 SE custom firmwares. Considering that this is the only reason why he discontinued work on his own custom firmware perhaps he will eventually create one again or continue where he left of.

As great a coder as Dax is, I think it is slightly insulting to talk about him like he is the only capable one. There are many excellent and talented coders in the psp homebrew scene and there may be many more who simply stay under cover.

There is always hope and homebrew will never die regardless of how hard $ony tries to extinguish it.

I'm still having trouble getting over the loss. Things haven't been the same between me and my PSP.

The love has gone out of our marriage.

I think I'm going to cry.

I've got to do something to make myself feel better.

I know, I'll go down to the pub for a drink.

Hurrah, I'm happy once again.

@ iTech: threats?

Well this certainly sucks. So no 3.51 OE?

^ Sony has nothing to threaten about. They should shut the fuck up and quit bitching for being raped in the clit by homebrewers.
Sony is becoming the new Microsoft IMFO and needs to shove it. I can take corporate fascism from some wealthy Americans, but you bet your ass I won't take any shit from some rich-ass Japanese guys.
The list of bullshit lawsuits Sony started against small American and European companies is long allready, and now they're targetting individual independant people? Fuck them.
It's probably because of the poor sales of the extremely shitty and mutantly ugly PS3 that they feel the need to extort some defensless guys to feel better about themselves.

Even though I don't own a PSP, I feel for you guys. This stinks man, Sony should go jump down the building. However, like DragonMinded, Dark Alex would still probably work on new firmwares undercover, and return once more to the scene.

The PS3 works in a very similar fashion to the PSP -- including the XMBs. Rumor has it that DA was working on OE firmware for the PS3 that would have had pretty much the same power of the PSP OE firmware (running backups, homebrew, plugins, etc). I think Sony left him alone while he was doing his PSP work (which is weird for a giant like Sony to do) and then when he started working on the PS3 they knew he would succeed in what he was trying to accomplish so they headed him off at the pass and scared the utter shit outta him.
