Aye aye captain.
Still, Taurine is too much for me (maybe my heart disease is causing it?)

When I feel like having a tachycardia I buy me RedBull.
All stimulants are bad for the heart. If you don't get tachycardia from coffee you're just not drinking enough of it :tpi:

On to my next question.

I asked how far down the rabbit hole you were. As with some other things, it's easy to go overboard one upgrade at a time.
Do you brew your own? Do you grind your own? Do you roast your own? Did you move to Nicaragua and grow your own?
Is your coffee setup $10, $100, $1000, $10,000?

Black, one sugar and none of that nespresso plonk.

I must say that I occasionally drink it, after fighting off a quite serious caffeine addiction I don't exactly want to become dependent on it, even tho I down an energy drink on weekdays before work.

Coffee!
Bean juice, cup of joe, java-vava, mug of tar, mud water, lifeblood, mornin' brew, cup of dirt, nectar of the gods.
Do you, and how do you partake?
There has been a revolution in coffee in the last decade and a shift in the overall coffee philosophy, leading to a lot of varieties and brewing methods to become known outside of their "native" surroundings.
A lot of new coffee equipment has become widely known and available, and people now have knowledge of, and access to, a much broader range of brews, methods, varieties, roast levels, flavors and coffee related... stuff.
So how deep down the rabbit hole are you? How do you coffee? Have your habits changed?

The new forum software doesn't have polls with multiple questions, so here's one huge poll with multiple choices so you can mix and match.

And yes, there is an option for those who don't drink coffee. No need to elaborate.
Coffee is my favorite drink, but over the years I am no longer allowed to drink it often.

Coffee is like home cooking for me. I respect its value and its flavor, but I do things with moderation and respect to who we are as people. Just a regular $30-40 coffee pot that runs it through a filter. That said, the coffee we use is a little pricey, and going through a bag every three to four days, it adds up. They're like $10 a bag now. But we don't travel, go to amusement parks, etc. Our version of a vacation is staying at home doing nothing, and we love it. Though we could afford to do those other things, we prefer the simpler things. Like a good cup of hot joe. ;)

I like making an espresso each day. In the morning, there's this calming kind of ritual of messing with the beans, the grind, the tamping, it's kind of fun and helps me kick off the day.

Then I kept feeling tired and like I just couldn't function without caffeine and if I didn't have any, I'd just crash and fall asleep, no matter what. So I took up drinking half a mix of powdered energy drink each day on top of it.

I ended up in the hospital, not because of the caffeine, but because of endometriosis. Part of which was causing the super tired spells. Since I've been out, though, I try to do everything a lot healthier, so no more energy drinks, and I'll only have an espresso drink maybe twice a week.

Had a coffee. It was a Snicker Mocha. It sounded great. It was actually really disappointing. Had no chunks, like snickers, the whipped (I think) cream was more like just heavy milk. I should’ve returned it, but I drank it. I tipped and it was almost $7, alone. I’ll never get that swill again. I feel so dirty. I was trying to be all fancy and shit.

I think if you're looking for fun novelty drinks, they're always called frappucinos. I had a green tea kitkat frappe once, and it had wafer pieces, matcha white chocolate shavings mixed into the whipped cream, super fancy and crap. And it was about $7, too!

(not technically a coffee, but I've seen coffee frappes, too)

Ahh, yes. A mocha frappacino is great. Must have whipped cream (actual). I don't mind paying $7 for a good coffee. I like when they put espresso in there. 2 shots! Believe it, or don't, ice cream shops are a great place to get coffee milk shakes. I once got Rocky Road, as a shake, and added 2 shots of espresso. It was delicious.

Speaking of overly sweet overly milky coffee, I tried to emulate a Vietnamese style drink, which is a short, intense, strong coffee made with a dark roasted robusta (brewed with a phin but I approximated), with sweetened condensed milk, at a 1:1 ratio. Usually it is then shaken with a ton of ice and served with even more ice, but sometimes they just drink it as-is so I tried it as-is and let me tell you that is insane.

Delicious insanity.

If it's good coffee (ie ethiopian yirgacheffe or kenyan beans) - I drink it black - it's the only way imo. If not I need at the bare minimum some cream. There is some coffee not worth saving, though, like my old job's pot of coffee that tasted like it was burnt to death, and burned again to be left on the burner to get the actual brewed coffee burnt too - that not even cream or sugar could make drinkable.
