Just gonna ask this quickly, I am using CompUSA DVDs for backups and to my surprise they worked quite well. What I wanna ask is if the quality of the disc can affect the life of the DVD Drive on the Wii? Like, would it cause more tear and cause it to die quickly? I am gonna buy some Verbatim DVDs, but just wondering.

Yes.
EDIT: I have no proof.

NO NO NO

I don't know why in the world people seem to think that optical drives magically wear out depending upon the media, but the fact of the matter is, they do not. The ONLY part of a drive that wears out is the bearing on which the disc spins. Because discs spin a lot, the bearing is designed to take a LOT of use. Assuming a burned disc would shorten the length of your drive's lifespan, your wii would be in a landfill somewhere or on a shelf collecting 20 years of dust before you'd have to worry about it.
