Gaming Call Of Duty 4 Error When Launching (PC)

So I installed COD, but when I launch it gave me the following error:

ERROR: Could not find zone 'I:\Call of Duty\zone\english\code_post_gfx.ff'

I've just tried to launch it again, but now it launches, I can skip the splash screens but then I get to createing my profile and the game crashes out. I'm running this on Windows Vista btw. And I don't have the option to wait for the program to close. Also I can't run the game in safe mode because it crashes

I have the latest display drivers installed

I have that same problem, but i dont know how to fix it. Can you please help me, and tell me how did you fix the problem.

you need to have the image mounted, the exe is not a no-cd

edit: My game is still crashing when I get to the menu don't know why this is happening, help!

EDIT2: Try the following it worked for me:

Locate the file: "mssmp3.asi"

Rename it: "mssmp3.bak"

hey, new to the forums, I was crashing as well right after that video. I did what you said, and it worked! Nice easy fix
