Two days ago, got super curious about AI generated art and I got in a journey that lasted few hours until I found an ad in Reddit that suggested me exactly what I was looking for.

This is a website that is free to use and generates infinite amounts of AI art: https://picfinder.ai/
It's nothing like WOMBO or any other bullshit AI generated art sites that requires registration or pay to use.

EDIT: NOW IT DOES.

It's quite decent and so far I've collected over 1GB of high res pictures (2000x4000 px) of interesting and inspiring pieces of art.

Right now I have two of them in my phone (which is what I'm using to make this thread) so here's two pics:

Prompt: [Cosmic Girl]

(Cosmic Girl because I was listening Jamiroquai's song)

Prompt: [Cosmic Woman] (but based in an uploaded pic of a pornstar)

(This last one reminds me to a girl I met in Highschool named Jazmín)

I didn't have to register or pay for Wombo when I used it...

Anyways, Midjourney has given me the best results, but I really hate that it's a monthly sub, and you lose all your remaining credits at the end of the month. I had the cheapest tier and ended up only using a fraction of my credits, after a few months that felt like a huge waste so I cancelled it.
And the fact that they have no API and no plans to make one, and with Discord being the only way to generate images, you can't get around that by interfacing directly with their website either, and Discord ToS doesn't allow "selfbotting".
Really limits its usefulness. What I really want to do is write something that will constantly generate a stream of new wallpapers and switch them out on a timer, and i can't do that without some kind of API access.

OpenAI has an API, and it is pay what you use ($0.02 per 1024x1024 image generation, which ends up cheaper than Midjourney even if I actually used all my credits there), but I gave Dall-E a try and the output I got was incredibly mediocre. So thinking I still need to set up Stable Diffusion myself in order to get good quality output without paying an overpriced monthly sub.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
