I know it's pretty obvious they gonna make one but has there been any official talk about it yet?

I haven't heard any myself.

Hopefully they spend the right amount of time in development for that one so it doesn't turn out like "just another gamecube game with tacked on controls"...

There was an unofficial list of Nintendo's developers and what projects each team was working on. Mario Kart Wii was one of them.

I'd expect it to come out either Christmas 2008 or first half 2009.

But no solid information has been released.

I saw a machine once at it was £2 a go so never played it, especially seeing that you only got to race once even if you won.

You might like to know that it was confirmed sometime ago that Namco were working on GP 2, think its out in Japan now apparently its more of a upgrade (like SF2 Turbo was to SF2) Waluigi and Ms Pac-Man will be in it and Mametchi from the Tamagotchi game. Japanese version will have commentary.

Some hopes for MK Wii:
A choice of either 1 or 2 character racing (I actually enjoyed it in DD unlike some others.
Much longer tracks.
Remakes of some tracks from previous titles.
Track creator (I can dream.)
Vehicle creator and designer.
Online (It has to be in there!)
An option to choose a Mii to race with.
All of the characters from previous games plus more.
The Hopping returns.
The blue shell is banned.
Better and more varied battle and multiplayer modes.

Off course there will be a Mario Kart for Wii..

Mario kart 64 for N64, Mario Kart Double Dash for GC, Mario Kart DS for DS.

They made mario kart for all consoles also SNES and NES so OFFCOURSE there will be a Mario Kart Wii or something.

Arcade MK is pretty cool, some tracks are far better than others i reckon.

The ovvious is to use controller olike Excite Truck, but what about using the nun chuck to steer, and the wii-mote to aim and shoot weapons?

I worry about the lack of available buttons of using excite truck type contol.

one button for little hop/powerslide
one button for gas
one button for brakes reverse
one button for weapon
d-pad to steer

lol..not that much..i dont think i missed anything..unless there will be extra "double dash" features....for example...u can have some karts double dash style, and some single (u choose which one u want)..that would be sweet:)..lol
