As you can see, it's very much possible, but the performance is pretty shit. This is either on Medium or High settings, I forgot which exactly, but I don't think they're much different anyway.

It is using OpenGL, yes. Rendering this in software would not be practical.
Ah I see.
May I ask if the source code could be released?
Perhaps the source could be further polished, or even help other homebrew projects people could have in mind.

Thanks for answering back btw :)

This will be released publicly along with the source code when it's in at least a somewhat playable state. The source code is actually on my Github already, but it's still pretty early.
Oh I didn't see the Switch commits on that repo.
Thanks for the update!
I'll be keeping an eye out for it, thanks for the info!

How is it going? I assume it's much more difficult than other ports, maybe the most demanding port right now.
Thanks for the effort

I didn't like it. It felt very uh... plastic? Like, everything just looked weird to me. Too realistic for it's time, but also not "DOOM" enough to me. It's like they tried, but not hard enough. Felt more like the DOOM movie than it did a DOOM game. It's the only DOOM game not playable on Switch so far though.

I have a gpd xd (android kitkat 4.4.4) and I can play doom3 pc version
With 2gb ram, it's not full speed with fx, but it's playable, otherwise without fx ( pc options) it works very well, but it's immediately less impressive
I made a video some time ago here (max settings)

So I don't see the switch doing any less well than my gpd xd, with tegra x1, docked power, and its cpu will be fullspeed 60fps, if one day it happens, I'll be happy to start the game again and finish it on switch
You have to know that I record the video at the same time as I play, so I lose computing power by doing that. cpu and gpu.
The gpd xd still works.

The only thing left to fix is the performance, and I don't think I can do much about that yet. You can build it yourself if you want to test it, the source is on my Github.
