I tried googling before posting, so I apologize if this has already been discussed/talked about.

Is there any development in progress, or will be, of a coverflow styled system for selecting content to be loaded? I'm not using loadiine anymore, now that I have a new 1tb dedicated wiiu hdd. I loved the loadiine cover layouts, and loved the Wii loaders such as WiiFlow & USB Loader GX.

Thanks for any replies regarding this. :-)

I think nobody will even attempt to do that since games can be installed and played through the wii u menu, sorry :(

That was my guess, considering the lack of information I could find on the subject. Granted it's eye candy, but the Wii had the same thing where you could install WAD versions of games to its system menu too.

Thanks for the reply! :-)

I had another thought.

Would it be possible to launch a specific rom, from the WiiU Menu?

Have a channel with a pic of the game as an icon, and when you select it, it shows what system it's for, what year, etc, and then it launches the rom automaticly from, let's say RetroArch?

This is something along the lines of WiiFlow and it's plug-ins.

Does this sound possible for the WiiU?

You can take the Loadiine gx2 source and maybe try to change the Icons flow to Coverflow , I am still waiting for that , You would need to code some diff stuff

If I knew how to code other than NES 6502, then I'd be more than happy to contribute. I know all of this homebrew is still fairly new, I hope down the road to see some stuff like I mentioned. :-)

It can still be kinda relevant to people who have huge SD cards like me and don't wanna plug in an external drive, since (i suppose) installing games on SD card will never be possible

Yeah, it would be useful to some people (like you), but I still think that (sadly) nobody will create a coverflow for wii u (but loadiine is somewhat a coverflow for sd card games offline)

The WiiU menu is obviously superior, by all means. I'm actually really sad that the memory is so limited and it's not SD card expandable :\

I posted these two on another thread, but it didn't get any attention.
I'm hoping someone will be able to be able to get the CFW to do the same.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds

It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

Nor clothes 🤮 . Saves on time, soap, water and money having to wash them. :D

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
