There doesn't appear to be any increased compatibility. Nintendo didn't actually increase emulation of the pokemon puzzle league rom, they simply inserted a modified rom which tells the emulator to jump out of rom emulation and play bundled CRI (http://www.cri-tools.com) encoded videos instead of attempting to emulate the original videos the rom contained. Inserting a [!] good dump of the original n64 rom results in the same emulation crash after pressing start on the start screen as previous versions of the n64 vc emulator. The only thing one might consider useful is that you can replace the CRI encoded videos in the 00000005.app with your own CRI encoded videos and have them play back on your wii, though it isn't terribly useful due to the limited space provided by the wii's nand.
