did he actually say he had it working on 8.x the tweets only say it *should* be working on 8.x and that he has made good progress

Yeah well news site don't seem to really care about this little detail, everybody is now assuming it's working without efforts...

In my opinion, Smea shouldn't have said the name of the exploit.

I guess Nintendo just released its new firmware to block it.

tbh ssspwn might not hold any clue to the nature of the exploit......could just be something silly like super system settings......but the video of it running from system settings was just using the ds profile exploit in 6.x, his new entry point could be anything.....but im guessing its going to be browser based or something seeing as he said no flashcards at all would be needed

so code exec on 7.x is a go. won't be able to test on 8.0 for antoher week or so unfortunatley but things are looking up !

IT DOES ! or at least half of it anyway. can't yet confirm for the rest BUT IT MOST LIKELY DOES TOO.

he's working on it, maybe some horrors here and there, but it is working, at least that's what he said

yeah , but thats what im saying "it most likely does" isn't confirming that it is..........it probably will if he is sounding so confident, but you never know with these things until its 100% confirmed

Or maybe a game exploit, IIRC there was game exploit found my neimod and yellow8 back in the days that was never used.

Also why is wololo.net saying that smealum was afraid of piracy and that he wasnt releasing for this reason? Afaik smea just doesnt want to have something to do with piracy but if his work lead other to piracy he wouldnt care, why are news site so unexact lately...

only problem with a save based exploit is that it would need to be signed individually for each cart....would also need people to buy a save dongle type device......the only program that will allow manual editing and properly encrypting of saves is the cyber gadget save editor. which only works on japanese games....unless theres any games that load unencrypted content from the SD slot.....i cant think of any though

I thought Gateway exploit allows save export and re-import in a proper way, am I wrong ? That'd still mean no flashcart as it can be achieved without using Gateway cart, though that'd mean you'd need a 4.X 3DS to mod your save or save editing dongle...

nope.....it still has to be an existing valid and signed save, you can share saves with the gateway as they all use the same.....lets just say cart serial by default, when you use the extracted header from your retail cart you can use a save generated by that cart, for the exploit to work if they where relying on gateway, each specific copy of the game would have to be dumped using a 4.x console to get the valid cart header data, which is what makes each save unique to that cart....and then there would have t be a way to sign the saves....currently there is no way of editing saves even using gateway

then the game would also have to be a game that doesn't use 6.x encryption

But smea holds a few thing about encryption that arent public yet, as he's been able to dump pokemon 3D models and a few other things with pokemon save hacking, so I guess the save exploit thing can still be a possibility.

Also considering smea is really using the game exploit from yellow8 and neimod it would not be using 6.x encryption as it's been discovered at least a year ago if not two...

yeah but still, him releasing any sort of encryption key would be a no no(which is supposedly pretty much impossible to obtain without some serious hardware hacking anyway) if he wants to stay on the brighter side of the grey line that is console hacking.....and that wouldn't change the fact that users would still need to know their specific carts unique serial/header data which would require some sort of interface to get before they can generate the save for that specific cart and then be able to inject it too

im not saying a save exploit isn't possible, just that it wouldn't be a easy method for a entry point due to the various protections in place,

Could someone explain to me what the big deal is with Homebrew? I mean, why do people feel so strongly about it and want the 3DS to play it?

Why are you here if you're not interested in homebrews?

Don't you see all the great possibilities that'd come with homebrews on the 3DS?
