Metroid_Samus_Returns_USA_3DS scene release worked fine on all my kids Gateways using an older emunand 10.7.
Not really even sure what games require 11.6, we have had no issues with any games.. Just got around to updating to the 11.6 emunand someone posted at maxconsole earlier in the week.

I'm also using a Gateway flashcart on emuNAND 11.2.0-35E, can you help me getting that "spoofed" version of the game?
Thanks in advance!

Updating your setup is a far better idea than keeping it with an outdated one.
If you are still on A9LH, then upgrade to B9S
https://3ds.hacks.guide/a9lh-to-b9s.html
Then move your emuNAND to the sysNAND
https://3ds.hacks.guide/move-emunand.html
There are literally no benefits to sticking with outdated homebrew.

Hello again:

Sorry if I'm asking something that was previously answered, but I'm a little bit lost. I'm trying to run Metroid: Samus Returns on my New Nintendo 3DS's Gateway with emuNAND 11.2.0-35E, but it doesn't work. The game logo doesn't show up (just a white logo) and I'm not sure about what I have to do.
Thanks in advance.

If you want to keep using Gateway:

Backup your emunand.

Hack your system using www.3ds.hacks.guide installing Luma.

The guide will help you copy your emunand to the sysnand and update to the latest firmware...

Then you'll be up-to date. If you keep your emunand as is,or restore your emunand using the backup, you'll be able to run Gateway still for old titles. There are tutorials.

Let me stress that Gateway sucks and you
Should only use it as a means for more storage. Luma should be your daily driver and Gateway just for old games that you might want to play again...

Thank you, @mikefor20.
I'm still a little bit lost: how do I backup my emuNAND? On the other hand, that link doesn't get me anywhere. Maybe the website is down?

Thanks again.

I can confim that the game works on Gateway.

I am running Gateway in A9HL mode and B9 in my other 3DS.

My gateway emunand is on 11.4.

I used a ctrTransfer pack to update/downgrade my EMUNAND to 11.2. That's the last official supported version by Gateway. At this point take a backup of your emunand.

However you CAN get partially newer versions.
After that I manually partially update my emunand to 11.4. Since there are few titles that preventing Gateway to launch the emunand. I can't remember exactly wich titles that prevents Gateway from loading. But I can tell wich titles are safe to update and needed for Newer games

Yes, you also can partially update your emunand to 11.6 but I didn't had the time to do this.

I also got a similar issue in the past. I wasn't able to launch my physical cartridge of Fire Emblem Echoes since it needed 11.4 in order to play the game. Now I can play the game and I still are able to use my gateway.

This is a solution that can work for me since I just want to play Metroid: Samus Returns without getting into much trouble. I'm on 11.2.0-35E emuNAND, how can I get to this partially updated 11.4.0? Will that make the ROM work?

Thanks in advance.

You may want to start checking dates of posts. Most have been in 2017 with members last seen here in 2019. You may find current members who can help with your game not being updated. But those guys ya likely arent going to see.

That hybrid "frankenfirmware" is easy to find. I don't reccomend tinkering with ios files.

Just,

Backup emunand

Follow 3ds.hacks.guide except you copy emunand to sysnand not move it

Follow link above to use gateway.

Then install game to sysmenu.

Luma is more compatible, safer, faster and has far less ethics issues.Gateway is great for a 2nd sd but thats it.

There IS the benefit of an extra SD slot. You can use both if you choose to.
