Homebrew What exactly does hacking your 3DS allow you to do?

So it basically allows you to do everything a flashcard would and more, is that it? Meaning there's no reason to buy a flashcard if I can follow through with this method.

Homebrew What exactly does hacking your 3DS allow you to do?

Hello! I've been a little out of the homebrewing scene for about 5 years now. Last time I was around, I bought a DSTWO which served its' purpose until recently, when it stopped working. Now I wanted to get a new flashcard and noticed there was a much more viable alternative: hacking the 3DS...

Hacking Can I update my DSTwo in this situation?

Sorry for the late answer. No, no. I didn't update my 3DS. What I wanted to know is what I have to do in order to safely update the 3DS firmware without bricking my DSTWO. Do I simply need to update the DSTWO firmware normally?

Hacking Can I update my DSTwo in this situation?

Hey, guys! So, I have a DSTwo flashcard since February and I haven't updated my 3DS firmware since (which is 4.5.0-10E). Yesterday, I remembered maybe I needed to do something to prevent my 3DS to force an update, or something (it happened to me once, before I had the flashcard), causing it to...

Hacking The SuperCard DSTWO Beginner's Guide: How to Setup the DSTWO

Hum... something's wrong LOL! I opened my Supercard for the first time ever on my 3DS and it just opened normally. I could immediately play to all roms I put there! I'm extremely happy, but I wonder why this happened. I didn't even have to do the update thing.

Hacking The SuperCard DSTWO Beginner's Guide: How to Setup the DSTWO

3 minutes or more is the recommended time, right? And then, after those 3 minutes pass, just turn 3DS off, delete the .dat file and put it back on?

Hacking The SuperCard DSTWO Beginner's Guide: How to Setup the DSTWO

Yeah, I updated it last month but only got my Supercard today. So, right now, my 3DS is at 4.5.0 firmware and I don't have a DS anymore.

Hacking The SuperCard DSTWO Beginner's Guide: How to Setup the DSTWO

Is it risky to update the DSTwo on my 3DS even if I follow all the steps in this topic (waiting at least 3 minutes, and such)? What are the chances that my cart will brick?

Hacking DSTwo Supercard: the safest choice?

Yeah, I just read about it... It seems extremely risky, though.

Hacking DSTwo Supercard: the safest choice?

Hey guys, I finally got my Supercard DSTWO. So, I was reading this topic (http://gbatemp.net/threads/the-supercard-dstwo-beginners-guide-how-to-setup-the-dstwo.290190/) and it says "Firmware 1.19 - works on 3DS's on v4.5.0-10 and prior". Does it mean that firmware 1.19 was created to make...

Hacking DSTwo Supercard: the safest choice?

So, basically, the only cares I must have so that my cart doesn't brick are: - Always update my cart before updating my 3DS firmware; - Never turn my DS/DS Lite/DSi off in the middle of an update; - Never updating my cart on a 3DS with the latest firmware version. Is there anything else?

Hacking DSTwo Supercard: the safest choice?

Got it. I think I've got it all covered. Is there any topic talking about the cares we must have with our carts (more specifically, DSTwo) so that they don't brick?

Hacking DSTwo Supercard: the safest choice?

Yes, that's exactly what I meant. One more question: Will I need a DS/DS Lite/DSi to do that update thing, just like R4i Gold needed?

Hacking DSTwo Supercard: the safest choice?

I mean that there are too many R4i Gold versions and revisions. I ended up buying the .eu version without knowing that there were other versions and that this one was took so much to update its kernel. But that's also my fault for not doing a deeper investigation.

Hacking DSTwo Supercard: the safest choice?

And is there more than one cart version of DSTwo, like R4i Gold (which has .cn, .com, .eu, etc)? Because I was totally screwed when I ordered it without knowing there were multiple versions.

Hacking DSTwo Supercard: the safest choice?

I'm so ashamed that I didn't buy Supercard right away and instead bought R4i Gold, if it's that good! I can't believe they update their firmware so fast, it's awesome! About the Auto AP bypass, it basically nullifies the AP of the said game until a new kernel version is out, but we can't use...

Hacking DSTwo Supercard: the safest choice?

After reading many topics around the forums, I came to the conclusion that Supercard DSTwo might be the safest choice for the future, even if I buy a 3DS game that forces me to update my 3DS firmware. I have a few doubts, though: 1º Does Supercard update its firmware fast after 3DS releases...

Hacking If we don't update our 3DS update for a while, will new games we buy force us to update it?

I suppose it's bound to happen if I don't update my firmware until October, then. Thanks a lot for your answers

Hacking If we don't update our 3DS update for a while, will new games we buy force us to update it?

The question is on the title! It's probably been answered before in lots of topics, but I didn't find anything ^^" I'm asking this because it happened on Wii. And since I intend to buy 1 or 2 3DS games this year (Pokémon X or Y and Harvest Moon New Beginning, once it comes to Europe), I'm...
