Hacking Wiiflow Backups crashing

I've recently set up a friends Wii so they can play backups on their console. The specs are:
White E4.1 PAL
Basically i soft-modded it with Modmii so it has the homebrew channel and i installed WiiFlow and got the hard drive set up.

The problem is some games won't load at all (Metroid) and some games (like Donkey Kong Returns) crashes when it's loading.

Which WiiFlow should he use to load his games and is there some IOS i need to upgrade to to play these games?
