Got old 3ds though and if you can mod smash it should work with sun and moon

SaltySD with only Sm4sh. Sun/Moon will be getting support soon, but don't have it just yet(?) If you want mods for other games, look into BootNTR and NTR Plugins.

there is a new luma3ds coming out soon (unknown date) that will support romfs loading.
