That's a pretty good reason. the USB bar would be much easier to set up too.
If I really wanted to save a little extra money, I could go back to using 2 candles though! I successfully used 2 candles to play dolphin wii games for quite a while
The only thing about the IR bar is that it isn't the best if you have a smaller screen. I have a small display, but the bar doesn't work if you're too close. So then I gotta back up and the screen is hard to see and I feel awkward- Also how do you use candles as sensors?
Yeah all you need is something that produces infrared light - in fact you don't even need two sources. A buddy of mine used to use his lighter for the few seconds it took to click on SSBB.
@Mr. Looigi To use the candles as an IR bar, you just need 2 lit candles with a similar distance as the Wii's IR lights. It's ~6 inches IIRC.
The wiimote will see the IR being produced by the candles and accept it as a Wiimote bar. Even used this technique to play Skyward Sword! (including a real "motion Plus" wiimote addon)
Skyward sword doesn't use the light bar past the start screen - the motion plus emulates it after that. Test it and unplug the thing after you pick your selection.
sorry, beein trying to find this file that's been right in front of me for a month now, only to find broken links, and google to prove that it's completely worthless.
