Physical has shipping costs
Aro you joking? Walk into a store and buy the game there. You Don't have to order everything off the internet. Of course, if mindless people keep supporting Amazon, then it won't be much longer until you really don't have any other chance to buy something. But don't worry, once all brick and mortar stores were forced to close down and Amazon managed to replace 99% of their workforce with robots and drones then you will have other problems to worry about. Like not being able to pay rent. People need to wake up already. Digital downloads aren't any better, btw. Physical or nothing!

You act like buying online is almost as bad as worshiping satan. They will never replace physical stores, and stores that fail because of online stores are usually not very good stores anyway (looking at you Gamestop). Sure buying online from home is convenient, but there is also sometimes the convenience of being able to get something immediately from a physical store. I swear peoples fear of technology is rediculous.

Digital is better in that it's more convenient if you have fast internet. I don't know about other people, but in my area pretty much the only brick and mortar game store is Gamestop, and honestly I wouldn't give half a shit if all of those closed. Amazon is definitely preferable to that and they also employ people.

I made it my priority for portability and convenience reasons to buy digital when possible. I have a 200GB MicroSD so I am not worried yet about space.

However, for main Nintendo IP titles like LoZ: Breath of the Wild, I buy phyical when possible as they retain their value and are nice to have years down the road when Switch online services get shut down and digital games vanish if an SD card, internal memory, or whole console dies.

I got Breath of the Wild on cart, and I have Mario Odyssey on preorder for phyical cart. I will get the main Pokemon game for Switch on cart also when it comes out. for other stuff like Mario+Rabbids and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, I have digital versions.

The only time I would ever get a digital release is if I can never get the physical release. Otherwise, I always get the physical release. The only platform I am okay with going digital is PC.

Plus, when the Switch gets hack opened like the 3DS, I can backup my physical games and install it on my console.

Edit: Physical release makes it easier to update to a specific firmware for hacking.

Personally I rarely sell my games so most of the time I go digital. I mainly go digital with multiplayer games like MK8 and Splatoon, and go physical for Single Player games like Zelda and soon Mario & Rabbids and Mario Odyssey (So I can lend/sell them).

Though I rarely go physical as it's too expensive for me.

Not sure myself.
Digital has no shipping fees and arrives earlier, but has to download. Physical has shipping costs and cart switching hassle, and can be resold, but no download to deal with.
What do you guys think?

Physical atleast has re-sale value if you get bored.

Buy digital = pay more (usually), no ability to sell it on when done with it.

I love the look of the game, but i dont favour digital releases. I like to collect firstparty hard copy releases for all consoles.

I've ordered my copy physical from simplygames.com I always order all my physical games from these people because I always get the games 2-3 days earlier than the actual release date. I haven't ordered one Switch game so far yet from them that hasn't come a few days earlier!

I used to love getting physical versions of games, but I switched to only getting digital versions because carts always seem to stop worked after I have them for a few years. While being able to sell them is a nice perk, I'd rather be able to play games without worrying about the cart ceasing to function because the gold plating got scraped.

(Also, now I don't have to worry about constantly losing my games.)

Every time I've gone digital on a Nintendo console I've ended up regretting it. So it's physical all the way for me.

But you have to worry about not being able to redownload your games in a few years because the servers shut down instead.
Also, I'm not sure how you manage to destroy your carts like that. Every cart I have going all the way back to SNES/GB still works fine except for a bootleg Links Awakening DX cart I have that won't keep saves correctly (and yes the battery was replaced several times with no difference) and a Super Mario Bros DX cart that somehow rusted even though it had never been exposed to liquids.

not a huge worry for me since when that happens, I'd have zero issue getting the games elsewhere. like with the 3DS and Wii U, we can back up our digitally purchased games into an installable format. chances of the Switch eshop closing before it's hacked to a similar point as 3DS are very unlikely. it's not going to close in "a few years" unless the switch becomes a massive flop like the DSi was.

Well, the only console that I've had carts for a really long time was for the DS (mostly due to the fact that it was the first console I got). I played every game in my collection for nonstop until the 3ds came out. After that, I learned to be more careful with my games, but due to powersaves I lost a few more carts (due to how wonky it was).

Now, with switch in tow, I try to only get games digitally so I can prevent future problems occurring with my favorite games.

(P.S. Thanks to homebrew on the 3ds, I managed to dump the saves from all of the nds/3ds games that rarely worked anymore with the exclusion of pokemon X)

I'm pro-digital for new games I know I will like, where you're not going to get any major discount anyway but you download them while you sleep and wake up 50 minutes later to play it, and you don't have to carry expensive cards to play more than 1 game

Game loss risk is zero for now and the next 10+ years, if anything digital is free insurance replacement
(Saves will be lost if you will need a manual account transfer, but the same is true of physical ones if replaced or corrupted)

And homebrew will Soon come to the rescue, combining freedom of save backup with the cheaper price of used physical and the convenience of digital
