Hello there currrently I have a 4GB SD card in my 2ds with custom fw installed and a few games,

I was just wondering if I was to purchase a bigger SD card say 16 or 32gb, could I just copy all my folders and stuff from my current SD card to the new one and everything would still work the same as before?

Thanks :)

So how are SD cards formatted OOB? Because I'll be honest, I've NEVER formatted an SD card before using it and never had any problems with them in my console Lol.

Allocation can have an effect on boot speed and some homebrews require a specific allocation size. Examples being nds-bootstrap, which requires 32kb cluster/allocation size to work properly.
For speed, I've found some microSD cards worked perfectly out of the box and just happened to have the right allocation and others not so much. This resulted in a few added seconds to my boot time which were easily trimmed off by properly formatting the SD card.
So basically I just find it better to just format your microSD card with GodMode9 before doing anything. It doesn't take very long and it's the best way to ensure your SD card is properly setup before you get too comfortable with it.

Oh I agree, it just never really occurred to me. I guess I just got lucky and got a properly formatted one, because I've 100% been yelled at by other devices forcing me to format it before usage. Thanks for the explanation.
