How to install Retrix (Retroarch/Libretro port) for Xbox One

Prerequisite - Requires Dev mode to be activated so you can sideloadd apps. If you don't already have it you can find more information here. https://www.windowscentral.com/how-activate-dev-mode-your-xbox-one-console

Retrix(LibretroRT) is a massive project aimed at porting all libretro cores to UWP. It currently supports Nes,Snes,Sega Master System,Sega Game gear, Sega CD, sg 1000, Playstation, Gameboy, Gameboy advance, and many more to be ported soon. This guide will cover installing Retrix for your xbox one console.


[1.] Download ProjectPgeasus (If you already have ProjectPegasus this step doesn't apply)

[2.] Once Installed just open it up and select RetriX. Now just wait for it to download. All you have to do now is Sideload Retrix on to your Xbox One (If you don't know how, follow the full guide here https://github.com/wiired24/ProjectPegasus/blob/master/binaries/Installing APPX Packages.pdf )

Retrix brings with it support for local 2 player something we have not had until now. It also opens the floodgates to every single emulator that is currently inside the scope of the libretro project. You can see a full list here https://github.com/libretro

I had been sitting on releasing Retrix for quite a bit now but it has finally reached a point where it is stable enough for release. Credit goes to Albertofustonini for creating and maintaining the Retrix Project. Credit also goes to @kingtut for advocating for a Libretro/Retroarch port for Xbox One. Depending on what you mean? I mean this is the first time something like the xbox one allowing emulators without being hacked. and the n64 emulator always runs badly on other consoles (as far as I am aware). most emulators running on consoles stop at playstation.

You only need to look to the homebrew scenes of the past to find your answer. I'm 110% confident down the road we will have n64 and dreamcast. And to your second point actually no n64 emulators run fine on a number of systems. The original Xbox had n64 emulation and it performed quite nice, the Wii had n64, the PSP had Dadelous (N64 Emulator) on and on. No matter what difficulties there may be there will always be people who rise to the challenge as history has shown time and time again the mantra of where there is a will there is a way. :)

Maybe when Alberto is finished porting Medafen PSX core over to Retrix we can bug him about porting Yabuse
im not sure which one would work better but retroarch supports yabause and beetle so maybe since yabause is old maybe compat wise isnt as good but idk

I would really like ps2. but so far so only pcsx2 runs ps2 games. And according to libretro, it is not portable at all. so I have to wait until play! gets good

i wish we had more then one person working on this now :(
I am waiting for him to finish the core he is porting now so that I can understand how he converts core, and I will try to port the next one. Maybe I will try to port mame or dosbox

cant you tell from the others he ported?

I was noticing a pattern with all the cores he ported. because all he is doing is porting the cores that are already on retroarch to uwp. So I am pretty much looking at his GitHub commits to understand all the changes he makes for adding new cores, and I am going to try and follow through. Me and @wiired24 have been taking notes with his ps1 core porting, so that we can add more cores in the future. But I am still learning so do not take that as confirmation for anything yet.

well not to sound ungrateful but he should work on stability before he or anyone keeps porting cores over because gbc and gb crash after intro and gba crashed on me after a little bit and sega genesis plus both sega master system and game gear dont work just black screen

I'd Voice it over on the issues page so he can be alerted to it and fix the issue.

I got the sega genesis working for me, but yeah I agree

It does need stability fixes letting him know about it is definitley the right move. As the project moves into beta territory we should have less of these types of issues.
i just wish he implemented a way for me to get crash data because its random and it tells me nothing
