there seems to be more detail. it runs smooth just not as fast. ill have to play both at the same time. to see whats what

@saiyan-lusitano i played mushroom cup offline then the first race ended being the same course thowmp ruins online lol offline was 50 so i under stand the slower speed. but i thought online was supposed to be 150 at-least in wii u it was. I never really play 200 on any version.
The online races are currently and mostly at 100cc, a few at 150cc depending on your luck you're more likely to play 100cc than 150cc. I'm with a 2000k rank and still get thrown into 100cc races.

I think I'll play Puyo Puyo Tetris instead, PPT/Tetris serves as an educational game that many out there could make use of.

you know i never realized the game did that. That makes sense why sometimes it feels my turning is a bit off
i think i have 8896 points on the wii u version. I did not play online as much. Hell im still playing wii goldeneye 007 online. still fun raping noobs. Speaking of noobs i saw them fire hopping in mario kart 8 deluxe. If nintendo would have done what i suggested fire hopping would not do anything

I suggested that consecutive hops should actually slow you down. that counters it. it would be like hitting the grass. Thats how id fix it. Also like all other mario karts ,weaving side to side should slow you down. To bad for the motion control noobs. they will have to learn how to drive and not be rewarded for bad driving.

ALso the lightning needs to be like it was in double dash. we all know tossing a bolt in 12th place where you usually get them is usless when the 11th and 10th place drives get big in 3 secs....
Oh and i see the noob bullet is half the size lol. well ima play some mario kart right not ant rape some noobs

Enjoying the game very much despite the fact that I haven't touched a Mario Kart game in years and I'm finishing mostly 4th/5th online. Started with 50cc offline, which was way too slow of course, then did 200cc circuit where I finished second. I'm okay with online being mostly 150cc, currently working my way through the cups at that speed anyway.

Ok, some things I hope come in an update:

1. BRING BACK RACE TIMES! I know it's all about fun and not about winning (says the losers) but I miss a really close race, and finding out you won by 2 hundredths of a second (the SNES version was great with this). I don't mean time trial mode, but in all regular racing modes, online and off.

2. The only way to get 2 ? Boxes, is to hit the stacked ones. If you drive in-between 2 singles and hit them both, you only get 1.

3. A way to switch between the two items you have. Being able to hold two is great, but I'd rather not have to throw the red shell first, just to get 2 coins.

Okay I think this game just made me fall in love with HD rumble. Turn the volume down like all the way and grab a coin

I'm 100% hooked, perhaps because I've been playing more (non-realistic) racing games recently, but hooked none the less. From my experience people end up in one of two groups in races, and I tend to end mostly 6th, 2nd, or 1st. 6th is in the second finish group of course, while 1/2 are in the first. The reason people end up grouped like this is because you pretty much always target the people nearest you with items. It is possible to go from 1st to 12th in a chain of people passing and throwing items after the first hits. Best I've done in the other direction is 5th to 1st.

I don't think blue shells pop up too often by any means. And they can hit people other than 1st. Lightning pops up more often but it really only benefits one person (two if you manage to be using a star at that time), so it's not much of a game-changer. Other items that I hadn't seen before MK8 are really powerful too. Even green shells are potentially deadly, ofc. Item balance is good overall, though I wish there was an option to turn off all items even if it didn't have a fleshed-out switchboard like Smash.

I'm actually glad they went with a port instead of a brand new game.
A brand new game for 2 consoles that are basically of the same generation technically wouldn't make sense. The game can't really get more beautiful, the gameplay is already tweaked to perfection. So it makes perfect sense to get a port, if they keep adding more content to it.
I'd also like a little more options. In VS race being able to select what items you want, in which frequency (pretty much like Smash) for example would be fun. More tracks too, potentially mirror 200c I dunno.

There's ways to keep refreshing the game without making a brand new one.

Same with Smash BTW. The game is already beautiful, and working on a new one from scratch would take a lot of effort for very minimal added value. It makes much more sense to get a port and keep adding new content every once in a while.

wow. I was already angry at Nintendo.
And they did the job to be worse than the worst.

I'm a hardcore (well semi-pro because doing 3/4 hours a day of Time Trial when I don't work, but at least 1h EVERY DAY) player of Mario Kart : Double Dash !! And... There are NO PART to skills. NONE. I've done 2 cups, and the RNG is worst than the basic Mk 8. It's equal to Mk:Wii (in 2 cups, I had 14 Blue Shells, so nice in 8 races, and I do not count Lighting that are extremly common)

And i'm not even speaking with the fact that this Mk 8 Deluxe EXCEPT ONE new rule in Battle mode, there's nothing new.

This is a shame. Really. And i've enjoyed every Mario Kart, even the 7 which was a huge joke already. But this one. Lol. Thanks that I can play where I want this is the ONLY positive thing.
I don't know about Deluxe, but on MK8, tne rubberbanding also uses distance to judge and give items. Any Mario Kart before just used the position on the race and the ranking (who is in the pole position receive more defense-based items, who is in last receive more offensive items. On 8, if you are way behind, you receive more mushrooms and rockets and if you are way too in the lead, you receive coins, which make you more vulnerable). Wii for me it's the worst, not only motorcycles are way better than karts, but you can't even place in first for more than 10 seconds without being bombarded by shells and offensive items.

I think dual item holding can break the game a little because Horns were a good way to present a dilemma: they are one of the best defense items if you are in the lead, but if you lose positions, you can't attack properly, so you have a little bit of planning: To hold the horn for the entire race with the risk of not attacking if I lose positions or throw away and receive bad defense items to hold your position.

I had the most fun playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with my family on the big screen yesterday, those who are skilled were matched up with each other in a 150cc match and those who were less skilled (newbies) were matched up against each other in a 100cc match, we also played online as pairs and it was a blast!

All considering that we did not even touch the Battle Mode of the game in which I started taking a crack at just yesterday, I'd say this game is as good as Breath of the Wild taking into account how much fun can be had from it in the long run with friends and family both offline and online.

I'm enjoying the game but the online is laggy, the servers are incredibly buggy, and I'm stuck with some unique bug where my friends do not properly update. No idea if my game is bugged or my Switch friends.

I'm still learning the game all over again, but I'm enjoying the challenge for sure.

I feel the same way. I've been playing online and it's completely different from how it was on the original version.

Lucky you. For me and many, the game has random disconnects, or you cannot stop your item boxes. My favorite is throwing 3 red shells at someone and none of them actual hit even though I see it happen on my game.

OH BOY AND HERE WE GO.

All i did here was try to play online, but the second it launches spectator, I get this nifty message. Neato.

Check my mini fix bro, I get far less 'Communication Error' messages now. It's in no way a perfect fix but it will help (a lot in my case) and can be kept aas is even if Nintendo releases a fix for MK8 Deluxe to improve online, not to mention it helps with the Switch's Wi-Fi connecting to anything internet related (eShop, Updates, News, etc...).

I'm literally the one who posted in your thread about it helping but not being a fix. I've been using google dns+static IP for years on Nintendo consoles. I even have a NAT Type A. Sorry to disappoint, but using Google DNS does not fix junk servers. Keep in mind there are servers in different countries, so just because yours is fine for you does not mean mine is for me. It happens, and no one expects better from Nintendo at this point.

They want us to pay for this service, everyone remember that.

First Nintendo removes the only technical move in the game (Fire Hopping), and then they include features that should have been there to begin with! Holding 2 items at once was a staple since Mario Kart Double Dash.
Honestly, I would love to boycott this port, but considering I'm being suckered into jumping on the Switch bandwagon for all these games, might as well buy it -_-'

I think the issue was you could hold an item behind you and get another in games before MK8. So they stopped that because other players cant see what you hold behind you. This way makes it fair and I agree they should have done this sooner, but the idea behind it in Double Dash is you played 2 characters. It was a different mechanic. I'm glad we can have 2 again, however it does make races chaotic as hell.

What are you talking about? Have you played Mario Kart Wii and MK7? You could always see what other players held behind them. You could even accidentally drive into them. Had nothing to do with fairness, and more to do with Nintendo always wanting tone down the competitive side of gaming... OH WAIT, Twitch exists, and we can make money off of it?? Oh nevermind, we'll pretend we care now and change a few things here and there...

Yes visibly. But MK7 had a screen where you could see everyones hold on the touch screen.
