Hardware Switch WiFi LAN Speed Test 89MB/s - 712 Mbps!

Well this is the best I could do I'm tired... I can't believe all the mirrors claiming 10GbE but can't serve me more than 5MB/s lol liars...

Best I could get was 104.8MB / 11.61 seconds = 9.01MB/s or 72Mbps download over the internet on my 100Mbit connection. Meh, close enough.

Looks like the Nintendo servers throttle download speeds for games to 50Mbps.

Spoofing the connection test, I found it will self abort after downloading roughly 50MB of a file.

And the browser won't let an HTML5 speed test work properly, the most I could get from that was around 47Mbps.

Good news is once it's hacked or if Nintendo decides to open up the browser for media, which I think they will eventually do considering there is a media option under settings to not sleep the console while watching a movie, they will most likely remove the throughput restrictions. I hope.

Going to be an awesome little media device once the patches/hacks come rolling in.

Well honestly, just because you can't see the need for speed doesn't mean others won't.

I don't quite understand what you mean. Are you insinuating they will remove the browser from the switch? They can't really stop you from redirecting, and they need HTML5 for functionality so I'm at quite a loss trying to understand what you mean. Can you please explain in detail what you are talking about? And please keep unfactual statements and opinions from the table please I'm here to learn about the inner workings of devices not be a an outlet for people's psychological imbalances.

For me it's a passion, I love tinkering with things and testing just what their limits are. That's how I learn. I'm pretty sure that's how inventors like Nikola Tesla did as well. Most of my skills that I have built my careers out of have been self taught.

When I first joined GBATemp I thought that my love for tinkering and hacking would be common amongst it's other members but I am beginning to realize the majority of people here are just here to troll and make stupid comments then pat themselves on the back because they think they have accomplished something and that makes them feel better about being a failure in their lives.

Patience, it's coming. I'm pretty sure Nintendo already confirmed that, they just said it won't be available at launch. If you feel like tinkering it's quite easy to stream videos and music using a fiddler as a proxy, I'm going to look for a good android proxy for my phone so I can stream on the go. EDIT: Check that, I can just leave it running on my server and open a port on my firewall then tether to my phone derp! EDIT: Check check that, I can tether through my phone tunneling through my vpn to my local network therefore negating having to open any ports on my firewall.

Also 50Mbps is crap, what if I want to wirelessly copy over 10 or 20GB of music or videos onto my device before going on a trip or going to a party. Or stream from my home media server to a remote location.

I have a 24TB array at home full of entertainment and if I had to wait for transfers or streams at only 50Mbps I would have to commit seppuku.

I know nothing was confirmed at launch, but i mean i guess at the same time my expectations was higher? At least a video player, music player of some kind for just sd card use would be nice, it is a mobile/console hybrid device after all and missing key parts of one if not both worlds. 3DS may be a game system as well but still can play audio files, view and take pictures (with huge limits on screen shots, even in miiverse uploads) but it has the basics of a portable device. System doesn't even have a camera or microphone, and they said it was based on past devices ideas.

To be fair they did not mention much about these things so is simple to say i had too high expectations. I even had the idea of possible twitch streaming either watching videos or broadcasting them straight from the system, doing that on both twitch or youtube would be a nice step in the direction of modern standards. (According to expectation) System is obviously based on shield tablet just with Tegra x1, and can't even do shield things. Talk about stripped down. I do hope future improvements are made. I would even be impress if maybe somehow chrome cast can be used. The ideas roll around in my head for what i had hoped for.

Basically i was discussing the lack of features that aren't available to take advantaged of the improved internet connection. Weather or not people agree that it is off topic wasn't my point. I'm glad the system has better wifi than the previous one and hope it gets great use of it. Having 50MB for just downloading from eshop and online multiplayer, games doesn't even need to be that much speed to get good connections. At least 20 should be enough.

Yes, otherwise they break the public hotspot captive portal functionality, the only reason the browser is probably included in the first place.

And why would they cripple the Switch like that since having a browser isn't hurting anything as of yet.
