i dunno how, i could have sworn i formated my hd in fat32 when i followed the definitive guide to vwii hacking, but it shows as being ntfs now, all my games are working gamecube and wii games

wow weird
my gamecube games dont load now

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

it says i need a fat32 partition, so somehow my hardrive changed from fat32 to ntfs without deleting anything on it.

Force PAL 480p, force NTSC 480p , practical question, are there differences between releases that make it unable to hack ?

Using hdtv widh wii2hdmi, so im guessing it's digital so pal ntsc shouldnt matter, rather will prolly select those based on game region,
What i want to know is wether ntsc games and pal games with this thing will look different and wether some pal games are so screwed up they cant run in 480p while ntsc can.

Basically should i stick to ntsc releases pal releases or not give a crap about it :P

p.s. 2 can't seem to run gcn games (wanna test my bongos >_<) from my ntfs hdd (format etc is impossible, it 2,5tb hdd with bunch of stuff) wii games seem to work though, will prolly try fat32 pendrive when i got the time but figured i might ask here as well:
path would be like this:
f:\games\Donkey Konga 3 [GY3J01]\Donkey Konga 3 [GY3J01].iso
so i'm guessing that's not the problem.

which forwarder channel, for usb loader gx or nintendont? Also these will method will work if done also on vwii?

The USB Loader GX forwarder. There are two 5.1 versions in the SourceForge repository. One is for the regular Wii and the other is for vWii.

Gamecube loaders require FAT32 as the first and primary partition.

No, the Wii U doesn't have any NTFS or FAT32 support. It uses its own proprietary encrypted format.

I know for gamecube the iso has to be named literally "game.iso" the folder should have the game name and game id.

that's the problem.

your path must be :
f:\games\Donkey Konga 3 [GY3J01]\game.iso

it has been said many many many times that the filename MUST be the 4 "g + a + m + e" letters, and not the game's name.

So, for users who didn't see my other thread, my computer died (along with tv and PS4).
I don't know yet if I lost any data. (probably)
my last full backup is from 1.5 years back.
I'll give more info later, after testing things...

I think I saw you in the other thread, so it's the same issue, not fixed yet :P
edit: ah no, you didn't post in it.
so yeah, my mother board crashed 1.5 years ago.
this week I don't know the issue. Many devices lost their hdmi capability, and PC doesn't "bip" at bios POST. no picture, nothing.
I just hope it's only a graphical card issue, but the HDD made some very bad noise too....they probably died when the computer crashed....
if it's a power surge, HDD probably died. I have no recent backup or anything....

LOL damn, thanks it'd prolly take me a couple of days to figure out that one, bit counter intuitive.. then again it took me 2 days to realize my ntfs wii games aren't showing up because the source was not selected.

Ouch, lost hdd once as a teen.. i actually cried..
Been using surge protected power bars ever since, they're cheap but seem to work.

Gamecube loaders require FAT32 as the first and primary partition.
Yep, well it does detect ntfs, after resolving path which would still prolly be an issue and i wouldn't notice it lol :) I hoped the loader would temp copy on sd or smth, oh well, pendrive it is then, maybe if i have time to deal with it i'll resize partitions and add fat32 to my hdd.. or get a case for an old hdd and use it explicitly for wii, for now pendrive for gcn will work :)

Guys, I'm at my wits end right now. I've been trying to get Metroid Prime Trilogy to work properly on ANY USB loader on and off for the past few days now, and I have gotten no where. The game boots normally, but crashes when I try to load any of the 3 games within MPT. Game logo, game is loading text, then completely unresponsive. I've searched and I'm not the only one that has had this problem, I just seem to be the only one that can't fix it.

Here's what I have tried to so far:

1. Installed and setup Configurable USB Loader using this guide. Successfully installed, and ripped Metroid Prime 3 and Metroid Prime Trilogy using my discs. Using IOS 248, Metroid Prime 3 runs flawlessly, Metroid Prime Trilogy boots normally but crashes upon loading a game.

2. Completely updated my HBC and BootMii using this guide. Installed BootMii as boot2, made a NAND backup. Updated my cIOS using the recommended settings in this guide.

3. Installed and setup the latest version of USB Loader GX, hoping I would have more luck with it. Booted up my rips, this time using IOS 249, no change in result. Metroid Prime 3 is flawless, Metroid Prime Trilogy crashes in the exact same manner.

4. Did some searching, found someone else that had the same problem, read all the suggestions and solutions that followed that post which led me to installing d2x v8 instead of the ones that were suggested in the guide I had previously followed. Installed d2x v8 with base 56 on IOS 249, and base 57 on IOS 250. Booting the game with 249 was the same result as before, and 250 didn't even successfully boot the game, I just get a crash to black screen.

5. Ran SysCheck 2.4.0, used ModMii to update my softmods. Tried booting the game again afterwards, same result. If I run SysCheck now, ModMii says all my softmods are up to date.

Things I haven't tried yet:

1. The alternative .dol method, but from what I can gather this isn't necessary anymore and I shouldn't have to.

2. WiiFlow. But if MPT didn't work on CFG or GX I don't have a lot of confidence that WiiFlow will be any different. But I'm tired of setting up different USB loaders, and I like the GUI in GX, I just want it to work with MPT.

3. A different external hard drive. I'm using a Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2TB 2.5" Portable External Hard Drive, formatted as NTFS. I don't currently have another drive I can use that has enough storage for MPT as it's a dual layer disc, and uses almost the entire disc size even ripped as wbfs. I can't reformat to FAT32 since I have important files on this drive, but NTFS shouldn't be a problem anyways. Is there a chance that my drive is the problem? Again, my rip of Metroid Prime 3 runs flawlessly, so I doubt the drive is a problem.

4. Redump the game after installing USB Loader GX. I'm still using my dumps that I made with CFG, however, I did dump MPT as an iso and a wbfs while I was using CFG, to see if it would make any difference. It didn't.

I have no idea what to do now, I've hit a brick wall. I've followed every step meticulously, and with great care to not mess anything up. As far as I can tell, I've done everything right, and there shouldn't be any reason why this isn't working.

I've been using a 64gb usb flash drive with no problems, but i switched to a 1tb hdd and now usb loader gx freezes on initializing usb device. I found a workaround by unplugging the hdd before launching usbloadergx and it will say waiting on hdd, then i plug it in and it loads no problem. however every time i change a game i have to do it all again (unplug, launch, plug). has anybody run into this problem? any ideas?

I had few issues like that, I think 1 of the ports is slow to mount on boot, but haven't had the issue as many times as to investigate issue, i'd also check hdd setting if you haven't set up something unnecessary.
