PlayStation Now coming to PC

psnow.jpg

Sony has announced that its game streaming service, PlayStation Now, will be coming to Windows PCs this fall. Playstation Now is a monthly based subscription service, which lets users stream Playstation 3 games over the internet. This announcement comes alongside the reveal of a new $24.99 DualShock 4 adapter, which lets you officially connect your controller to your PC, without use of third party drivers.

Here are the recommended specs for running PS Now on your PC:

  • Windows 7 (SP1), 8.1 or 10
  • 3.5 GHz Intel Core i3 or 3.8 GHz AMD A10 or faster
  • 300 MB or more; 2 GB or more of RAM
  • Sound card; USB port

You can use the DS3/DS4 wirelessly over BT, what are you on about?

''USB port''

Cleary Pony only supports usb cable, everyone knows his competitor offers free backward compatibilities and wireless controller support, Pony still sucks and plz dont go further to defend $ucking company

I hope they add Demon's Souls to it - if I can play all the exclusives I wanted to play on this, I'll have no reason to purchase a PS3 at all now.

Defend? There's nothing to defend, you're demonstrably wrong. You can use the controller wirelessly, people do it all the time, just get DS4Tool or whichever preferred driver you want. It's not officially supported, but who cares - it can be done very easily still.

The "competition's controller" has only switched to BT with the release of the Xbox One Slim, before they've been using their shitty proprietary radio technology that wouldn't connect to anything without their dongle.

You're acting as if I had stock in Sony or shook your baby - take a chill pill.

I highly doubt they'll let you play gaems on PS Now with third party drivers. That's pretty much his point, I guess.

Demon's Souls isn't on PSNow
You can buy a PS3 used, which includes the controller for 80 dollars, and Demon Souls used for like 15 dollars. This service is 45 dollars for 3 months, the controller is 30 dollars, and the adapter is 25 dollars. If all you care about is one game, you should just buy the console, you get to own the game forever, and not have to worry about lag.

I feel like this is terrible news. Why would Sony continue to invest in hardware now if they can just offer streaming of the games to PCs? I can envisage Sony dropping hardware entirely and moving to a streaming only service. This will be more cost-effective for them, which will make it harder for other platforms to compete. Other console-makers (MS, Nintendo etc) will have to make the same move, and consoles will disappear. Then console users are in the same situation as PC gamers - constantly having to play 'system requirements catch-up', worry about drivers and OS compatibility etc.

I wish things weren't going this way. I want to just put a game in a console and play it, not dick about with Windows and streaming and shit like that.

Thanks, I tried my hardest. It took me all of an hour to do all that math and stuff.
Some people like clutter, others like convenience. Certain customers value their time above their money - they want to pick up a controller and just play the game without buying any additional hardware that'll otherwise gather dust - this service is for them.

Firstly, learn how to spell if you don't want to come across like a blustering idiot. Secondly, again, some people just want to play the game - they don't want a bunch of nonsense to come with it. The service is premium because it offers the convenience of using a PlayStation system without owning one, that's what you're paying for. Thirdly, It might be used by Sony as a gateway service to get people interested in buying their device - if they like the games, they might go the extra mile. Lastly, in the future PSNow is supposed to work across a variety of devices, not just PC's - it allows for platform-independent support since it's essentially just streaming video and sound. I know that it might be difficult to imagine if you live in some damp cave in Uzbekistan, but we live in an era of affordable 100mbps connections - PSNow is perfectly feasible.

well, i know exactly what PSNow is, and i share my honest opinion, let's just back to the point where i started, do we still need usb cable to play (pay premium of course) games on pc? since i never used any sentenced about people's IQ and u claimed dat u have deeper eng acknowledges, do u know what does ''HAVING PAIN IN @SS'' mean? i pretty sure u are feeling it right now.

respect ... or perhaps did ur parents forget to teach it to u?

I'm also sharing an opinion, and my opinion is that when you can't spell in an era in which every Internet browser has a built-in spellcheck function you sound like a gibbering ape. This has nothing to do with respect and everything to do with your ability to convey information through writing - if your writing is terrible, I need to decipher it instead of just reading it, and I don't necessarily want to enact that effort on your behalf. This service is not for you, it doesn't speak to your sensibilities, which doesn't mean that it's bad. It works for millions of reasons and listing all of them would be silly as you're not the target audience anyways. Also, you drew first blood by telling me that I "lost my point", whatever that means (I interpreted it as an insult, see my point about deciphering), so don't cry just because I bounced the ball back at you. Note that I didn't actually call you "an idiot" or "a gibbering ape", I merely said that you come across like one. Grammar - it's very important.

There's no reason to be upset. I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings, I guess. Now let's keep this on-topic, shall we?

If the PS4 controller already connects via custom drivers then why the hell would anyone buy a $25 dollar adapter to do what they can for FREE? -really SONY???? Also, this service is kinda pointless on PC unless the PC version will be nothing but PS and console games that never got PC ports.
