2 questions regarding the preview

1) how big can my icon be? The one I'm using is 102 x 102, but I hope I'm able to use something bigger
2) Whenever I try to preview my theme, I get an error that says "attempt to index a nil value". How can I fix this?

Yep, the theme I downloaded definitely has non ascii characters. There's the zip file sitting on Themes.

Rename it in order to not have ascii files and the problem will be solved.

What do you mean for icon preview? There's an icon and an image preview: icon is 48x48, image preview can be basically of any size but there are some common sizes for common images took with tools like YATA+ or Usagi.
As for the error, your theme folder? Name can't have non ASCII characters and must be well built with proper files like themes downloadable from 3dsthem.es.

I read the guide on page 1 of the topic, I assume that you can customize:
-top screen background
-bottom screen background
-background music
-theme icon for CHMM2
-preview music for CHMM2
-preview backgrounds for CHMM2

So I want to ask, is it possible to customize:
1-Sound effect for moving the cursor around in the menus
2-Sound effect for opening a game/settings/etc

I've seen official themes doing it, but I don't know if custom themes got that far already.

And since I'm here, thanks for making CHMM2!

Yep, it's possible to add sound effects and background music using Nintendo's official Theme Maker but I can't say for sure about other Theme Makers such as Yata+.

Maybe it's me but.. I get that you want to make money of it by using adfly. I understand that. But then at least make the adfly links work?
I've tried on 3 browsers (Edge, Chrome, Firefox) with Ad Block disabled and I get Error 403: Access Denied.
Direct access to RAR archives is forbidden on this website when Adf.ly monetization is on. You must turn off your adblock and clean your cache to properly use adf.ly links.
Adf.ly monetization is turned off when donations cover the monthly cost of the webhost/vps.
I am getting to that page through the adfly link! I tried the QR code install, didn't work ofcourse. So what's the issue here?

Nope, it's supposed to exist with the 3DSX file. Can you try to apply a theme, then open the official Nintendo Theme Manager and set a default one and then re-apply a new theme? Let me now if you have the same problems even with these steps.

Probably it's more a question for the Custom Themes Thread since i never made a theme by myself and i really don't know what it's currently possible with the homebrewmade theme editors.

Thank you for the direct link. I had no issues before with downloading from your website so I don't know what changed. I don't have http plugins or anything so it's strange. Glad it's working now though

I have the same problem because I was trying to install ORGANIZ3D from HomeBr3w.
Went on to the website and Error 403.

Im getting the exact same issue, i tried the website on Firefox, Edge, Internet Explorer, and Chrome; didn't work with the QR code either.

how do i get theme shuffle to work? the instructions in OP are wrong
"X = Install themeset and go to Base System"

no , no it does not , not for CIA version it doesn't anyway
it just toggles theme shuffle on and then off again
i am using an emunand cia version 2.5 i think , with menuhax and latest reinand

when i try to do theme shuffle
i press "x" , it says theme shuffle on
i select my themes i want to be shuffled
press "x" again to "install themes set" as it says
but it does not it just says "theme shuffle off"
then all the 10 squares go blank again and i start over, press "x" shuffle goes back on, add themes again ,
press x , shuffle mode toggles off, all themes deleted from set ,so why does it say pressing x will install themes when all pressing x does is toggle theme shuffle mode off and on?
i also tried pressing start instead of X also does not work

how do i make it install a shuffle theme set?

Themeset is applied and then mode is switched to base one, i don't see where it doesn't work

If you're expecting that everytime you go to Shuffle System, it shows the themes you applied, then this is just impossible since no info are saved on extdata about WHAT themes you installed.

Themeset is applied and then mode is switched to base one, i don't see where it doesn't work .
If you're expecting that everytime you go to Shuffle System, it shows the themes you applied, then this is just impossible since no info are saved on extdata about WHAT themes you installed.

Take in mind that you MUST launch at least once the Nintendo Themes Manager since it will create the required files for CHMM2.

it works for installing themes it just does not work for shuffle
and he is using the 3dsx not the cia in the video
i am not sure what you mean by themes manager, but i already set a basic color theme i have a bunch theme pack cia's installed as well so i have used themes before and CHMM works for installing my custom themes it just does no work for installing shuffle themes
do i have to use the 3ds fw shuffle option? i take it i don't since i am pretty sure that CHMM shuffle was released before nintendo implemented the feature in their FW

CHMM2 shuffle system relies on original shuffle system so it's basically impossible to tell that CHMM2 shuffle system has been released before original ones.
3DSX and CIA versions are the same, it doesn't change anything, both versions will go to write on some files on extdata (that must be generated by official nintendo themes manager): https://github.com/Rinnegatamante/CHMM2/blob/master/source/themes.lua#L220-L326

Do you have CFW on emuNand? If so, are you starting CHMM from emuNand? Does your system have themes extdata files like BgmCache_01.bin? (you can check these with Sunshell, ORGANIZ3D or extdata_dump (https://github.com/MrCheeze/extdata_dump)).

yes i am using emunand booted with menuhax with reinand CFW ,yes i start CHMM from installed cia on my emunand
have not checked for those files not sure where to look for them

So, after applying a default skin I can re-apply a new skin in CHMM2, but with no sound. Trying to install another theme via CHMM2 gives the same error again.
So basicallly:
1. apply Theme via CHMM2 -> works
2. reboot
3. apply another theme -> Error
4. change to default skin
5. apply theme again in CHMM2 -> works, but no sound
6. repeat at step 2.

Oh, and still the Blend3r Icon.
