Just because all you can see of an exploit is that it crashes the game doesn't mean that all it is doing is crashing the game. It has to do very specific things, not just a generic crashing the game, in order to be a possible exploit. If you don't understand what those things are and you just picked your game because it crashes, or because it's just a game you'd like to see an exploit for, you don't have the knowledge to find an exploit even if there is one, and it probably doesn't have one anyway.

a stack overflow is totally different from a buffer overflow, and there's different ways to exploit these vulns.

Offensive is Pentesting and/or Black Hat Hacking
Defensive Security is, well, defensive security. The opposite of Offensive. Protecting from attacks, not attacking to protect, or whatever the reason is for attacking.
