Isn't backup loading able to cause a bigger revenue cut than fan translations?
For fan translations with R5, you actually need to own the game (unless you have exploitable firmware but in that case you already can use "backup loaders" anyway). So companies don't really lose money. At most, we could just say that ppl might import more and then we get to see less games being officially translated because of it.
If you already have a free fan translation, why wait for an official one that will cost you the same thing?
So yes, they do lose money. If I had any of the colossal amount of JP-only 3DS games fan-translated, why would I care about an "official" localization? I already have it in my language.

The only revenue a lack of backup loading is assisting is the bullshit of "LOL REBUY UR GAEMS ON OUR ACCOUNTLESS DIGITUL SYSTUM". Fuck that. I am not rebuying my collection digitally.

As I said, for a fan translation with R5, you actually need to own the game already even if it's the japanese version. So the developer doesn't lose money. The ones who might lose money are the localization teams and it may cause less games to be localized. But the original developer of the game will still make money since the game WILL sell, regardless of being a japanese version or not. As a matter of fact, it might even have more profits since it doesn't have to make any deals with localization teams. People will simply buy the game in the original language and that's profit for the developer.

The original game made money. The effort spent on a localization will not.

Also, imports don't make anyone but the overly marked-up seller money. It's one of the reasons Nintendo doesn't like them and region-locks you to begin with.

Agree. I was never against that point from the start. And as I said, it could just decrease the number of localized games even more.
It doesn't change the fact that backup loading would make the companies lose even more money though.

Nope you're SOL. Once Nintendo patches the *hax you're pretty guaranteed to never be able to play online ever again if you wish to keep those *hax.

Hi, if you have seen "ARM11 Kernel Vulnerability under 10.0.0-X" and you had upgraded recently to 10.x-x sure you are angry. But i was thinking and I JUST WONDERING if it is possible to make a "safe upgrade" with an unofficial nintendo server and "downgrade" to 9.9 or other versions.

I am a noob just want to know if this is possible.
Even if we could, It will never happen since hosting any official Nintendo files is Illegal due to copyright. It'd be pointless to try because not one single person will ever host these files for everyone unless we all jumped into something like the deep web and boy is that place fun..

Because everything hosted here is so legal. </sarcasm>

Who's taking about hosting illegal files to begin with? He's describing a passthrough/site to visit for CFW, like the GW one. Speaking of that, no one has any qualms pirating Gateway's exploit link here, so...

In order to make a server with the files you need to host them -_- *basic computer knowledge* that'd be the only way to access them. even if it were on a local server you are still hosting them.

What part of a CFW being hosted is "hosting illegal Nintendo-owned property" though? I'm waiting.
People have no qualms hosting CFW files here, or pirating Gateway's stuff. Is it okay to pirate Gateway because they're a bunch of Chinese scammers? At least they're not xenophobic Japanese scammers like Nintendo.

jesus, the hatred for Nintendo around here blows my mind

Usually CFW stuff contains code from Nintendo property. That's why people are saying hosting it is illegal.

Please, do tell me the "wonderful" things Nintendo has done in the last like ten years other than growing to be more anti-consumer than their competition, which, thankfully, has caused Nintendo sales to plummet massively.

Too bad there's already CFW hosted HERE so... um... try again?

there's CFW hosted here, yes. I'm not saying it's legal?

I don't know where you got the "wonderful" in quotes there either. Nintendo released a system that I bought and I enjoy having it. I'm not waving everyone over to take turn fluffing them, I'm just wondering why you have that level of hate.

Nintendo's also been doing really well on sales this year.
