Ninjhax 2.0 Released!

ninjhax3.png

GBAtemp's resident homebrew enthusiast @smealum is just on a roll lately. Coming off of the release of Ninjhax late last year, he's come back again with yet another release of his famous Ninjhax Nintendo 3DS exploit, which again utilizes Cubic Ninja. The 2.0 version of this software allows running of homebrew applications on a Nintendo 3DS supporting firmwares up to version 9.9, the current and latest firmware.

To run Ninjhax 2.0 you need the following. Instructions linked below as well:
  • A 3DS, 3DS XL or 2DS console with a firmware version between 9.0.0-X and 9.9.0-X. X can be any digit.
  • An SD card compatible with your 3DS (the one it comes with will of course do).
  • A copy of the game CUBIC NINJA, either from retail or eShop.

sorry, but... what's this hax actually do ? Or rather, is there any reason to get this over sticking with the Gateway method? I could see this perhaps if I suddenly had to get an n3DS and couldn't launch the gateway, but yea.

It's just a pointless homebrew exploit. Can't even play pirated games, so no there's definitely no point in it over a Gateway or Sky3DS.

I said no such thing. I am asking what is different about this, or is it primarily a new version that works on current firmware?

It primarily works on the latest firmware, 9.9 at present, and runs a hell of a lot faster for applications than it did previously. If anything it's the cleanup and stability version. ;)

But doesn't this version of Ninjhax break apps that previously worked?
Or were these just reports from clueless people who don't know how homebrew on Ninjhax works?

Not really interested in this but keep up the good work. People like you inspire others to make things that I am interested in.

Noob alert!!!!!!

So does this mean that I can install CFW on any 3DS until Nintendo patches it?

My appreciation. I am glad I did not sell my cubic ninja or my gateway. What kind of app can be installed on ninjrhax 2.0?

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

    I dread the price point.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah it's all choice and that's a good thing :)
