As this is for many people the first time using "illegit" CIAs, are there some precautions we should follow?

For example:
  • What happens if we access data management (with PastaCFW loaded / without)? I've read somewhere else that this will delete all your illegit CIAs along with their saves (on GW) .
  • What will happen if we connect to the Nintendo Network?
  • Is there anything (else) we absolutely must not do in PastaCFW?
  • Is there anything we absolutely must not do in SYSNAND (without PastaCFW loaded) when illegit CIAs are installed?
  • Aside from a cold reboot, are there any other ways PastaCFW could get unloaded? Maybe, if we exit system settings?
If these questions turn up something critical, that might also be a candidate for additional text oo the first post.

As a Gateway user.
- I've ran Data Management before and it didn't delete my illegit CIAs (I think this only hapens if you have linked Sysnand and Emunand)
- You can play legit and illegit CIA online as much as you want. There's no harm in connecting to Nintendo Network.

Riighty... Data Management I don't know, I already have too much stuff to want to try that.

Nintendo Network is safe.

Don't install system-altering CIAs, since they have a high chance of bricks.

There isn't really anything you can do in sysNAND to mess it up unless the Data Management thing does what you mentioned. Trying to boot an illegal CIA will just result in a screen saying it can't run.

And finally, I'd assume system settings would work. You can try it by exiting System Settings and trying to boot an illegal CIA.

Hope this helps you somewhat :)

Exiting system settings actually does reboot, ditto exiting DS/DSi/GBA software or using Ninjhax again to name a few.

yes....finally get to live my childhood nostalgia of F-Zero, Metroid Fusion, Warioland 4 and Warioware Inc...is there SNES VC too that would work with this?
SNES VC? No. SNES emu? Sure. Look up BlargSNES in the homebrew section.

1.It just will show as blank titles that are 0 blocks in size. It's fine to enter.
2.Don't know, haven't been able to connect
3.IDK
4.IDK
5.exit system settings, exit ninjhax, exit GBA/DSiWare, exit DS games.

so this allows GBA VC and DSiWare now? (since gateway purposely didn't allow it)

I tried to install a cia in my SysNand via FBI. Once done, i checked my homescreen and i saw that my cia shows (as a blank block) then after 1 second it disappears. Browsing with FBI in the title section, the cia is there. How can i remove it with safety?

Good work man! I enjoy having blarg on the home menu. Also, just got the update and I love the icon. I was praying it was a plate of pasta.

Again, good work. Picked a good time to ask for my O3DS back from my buddy. :D

I'm rather new to this. Where do I go to learn about CIA and FBI files, their loaders/installers, and where to get the loader/installers? Is it as simple as placing the CIA loader/installer into the homebrew folder on the Ninjhax exploit?

A CIA file is a file type for installing games, applications and system files to the 3DS. FBI is a program that was developed to install CIA files. No CIA loaders are needed, the CFW takes care of that.

I have a few questions.

Does Xenoblade work?
Does Pokemon ORAS work?
Another ORAS related, can I use savedatafiler with retail ORAS on 9.2 to edit the save in Pkhex?

Probably has been asked and answered before, but man it got to 60 pages quite fast.

if you have found the cia and know the titleID in FBI just delete it

ok, but just saying, why would you bother to load a CFW with Sky3DS if you can already load them 3DS roms with it (and to your future argument about Eshop content and VC content, i will answer that it represents a tiny amount in nintendo's income)

Because having all your games on the home menu with nice icons is about 1000x more convenient than scrolling through the Sky3DS (and being limited to 30 games).
By installing your games as CIA, you could have up to 300 games (3DS limit, including apps) on a 512GB SD card, and be able to find them because you can put them in folders. Besides, the cost of Cubic Ninja has dropped enough that it costs less than a Sky3DS or a Gateway.

So I just need this FBI loader and place it in the homebrew section? I did get the CFW working, but on 8.1.0.19U with the 0.1.3 Pasta Loader, because 0.1.4 kept auto detecting the wrong firmware, 9.X and I couldn't select a different firmware. Will running 0.1.3 Pasta Loader have any bad effects or will I loose any functions only on 0.1.4?
