I'd like to hack my vWii but want to make sure I can still safely update the Wii U. I have read all the vWii hacking material I can find but did not get a clear answer on this.

Secondly I am on the latest Wii U firmware so I am not sure if hacking the vWii is even possible. I have not launched the vWii since I got my Wii U last week.

Any answers would be appreciated.

Thanks

You can still update the Wii U if you hack the vWii, but it is possible a future update will delete your softmod from the vWii.
You should be able to softmod the vWii even if you're on the latest Wii U software update.

Thanks. My only other question is this. My reason for wanting to hack the vWii is in the hopes that Skyward sword wont look like washed out crap like it does on my wii with component cables. Any chance this will be the case?

Any difference in video quality between the Wii (component) and the vWii (HDMI) will be negligible since they both output at 480p. Some people say it looks mildly better; some people say it looks mildly worse. I can't tell the difference.

As for myself, I have the exact same image quality between my Wii with a componant cable and the vWii with HDMI. (The best quality the Wii could output)

But on the other hand, if I'm using the vWii with the same componant cable, the image is actually a bit worse.

The vWii can't support 60Hz with componant cable in PAL Regions, but it can with the HDMI. It's WEIRD.

Good to know guys. I think Ill hold off on modding it. My only reason to want to was for better image quality if it allowed, but seems its the same.

Thanks

I heavily agree to that. There is absolutely no point of hacking the vWii if you already have a real Wii. There are some hacks you cannot do on the vWii (Priiloader, hacks and such... Man, I regret my savefile of Smash Bros XD ), since the console is still alive it is kind of risky (not that much, but still), there are no quality upgrade (a Wii software is still a Wii software, especially since the retrocompatibily is not emulated but native), ...

Just stick with your good old Wii to mess around with, and play your legal games on the Wii U.
