Hello tempers,

I'm sorry if this is posted in the wrong section. Anyway, I recently bought a used PS3 game God of War Ascension. Now I didn't have any way to know if this is a US version or EU version but I didn't mind any of it since the PS3 isn't region-locked.

When I bought it, got home, played the game, suddenly, in about 10-15 minutes of gameplay, my PS3 will shut down and beep like 3 times. It's like it's indicating a YLOD problem. Before, my PS3 Fat had a YLOD problem and I sent it for repairs not recently and it is ok again (sort of). The thing is, in my other games, UMVC3, Uncharted 3, Killzone, etc. ALL games works fine and played more than just 15 minutes. No YLOD beeping and no stopping or shutting down. I also have God of War 3 and I tried playing the heck out of it to see if the YLOD problem (or the shutting down problem) will occur but in just about 30 minutes to 1 hour of gameplay, there's no problem.

So I thought maybe it's just 1 time it happened on the God of War Ascension I bought so I tried playing again. But it's no go, after 10-15 minutes of gameplay (ranging from that time, sometimes it's 5 minutes) the game will hang up on me, or my PS3 will stop and shut down and give me that YLOD beeping. Is there something wrong with my PS3 not being able to play the game or my disc is somewhat defective? My PS3 game God of War Ascension have this (EU) near the title when the PS3 reads the disc that's why I know it's an EU version. Can someone let me know what's wrong?

Thanks in advance and sorry for the long go.

EDIT: My PS3 by the way is not hacked / CFW / jailbroken. It's OFW so I am updated to the latest OFW (I think). In other words, my PS3 is legit (big bro doesn't wanna downgrade it for some reason).

I guess that if nobody answers, it's because nobody knows. Also, YLOD can return, it's not a permanent fix, which means you can probably get it again.

Get a micro-fiber cloth and wipe the disk down with that. Don't use any cleaner or anything, just a clean, dry micro-fiber cloth.

I've had games that hiccuped stuttered and crashed on me a lot and I used one of those micro-fiber cloths (got 'em at an auto parts store) and, even though the disks didn't look dirty, they worked fine after thoroughly wiping them down.

It's something to try anyway. Hope it helps you.
