RPG Maker (Player) Alternative Repository & Porting Project
DISCLAIMER: This project is in reference to a FREE title on the eShop (the RPG Maker PLAYER), and FREE games you can download from the Player's in-game menu, so this is NOT a piracy related project!
Since the release of RPG Maker on the Switch, you can also download the free RPG Maker player to play RPG maker games on your Switch. (Which you can also download for free from within the Player application on your Switch.)
Accessing this content can be an issue for Switch users running CFW, (as is the case with anything you try to do online on a Switch running CFW), so I want to try to setup an alternative method of downloading these FREE titles. (If there are any titles in the Player that require a fee to download, they will be excluded from this project. I don't think any such titles exist anyway.)
I am a coder so I am capable doing some of the work on this project, but I do need a little help from someone with a Switch running CFW that has access to the Nintendo eShop.
Here are the two things I need:
1. List of available titles in the Player download menu. (I can't find any listings outside of the Player app itself.) Any titles that have a fee (ie. NOT FREE) we will exclude but we would like to at least acknowledge that those titles exist even if we aren't going to back them up.
2. File/Folder structure of downloaded Player games -- This is the part that requires CFW. On CFW you can see the downloaded Player games in folders other than where a typical eShop game would go. (ie. a folder within the Atmosphere folder if that is the CFW you are running.) This will tell me how the games file/folder structure work in comparison to RPG Maker games on other platforms.
A secondary byproduct of this project would be the ability to port over free RPG Maker games from other platforms, (ie. on PC), over to the Switch as well. Once again, this would be limited to FREE games only. There are commercial RPG Maker made games available on PC that are NOT free, so in this instance we do have to make the distinction.
If there's any Switch owner running CFW that would be interested in helping me with this, I would very much appreciate it!
