I would also like to play online with ofw on sysnand and offline on cfw on emummc.
When updating with ChoiDujourNX, fuses are not burnt, right? However, when I want to play online on ofw, I have to burn fuses, or not? I am a bit confused about that.

Fuses won't be burnt if you enable autoRCM, which ChoiDujourNX does by default on unpatched switch consoles. No, fuses won't be burnt if you boot with hekate (custom bootloader) to your SysNAND for online purpose. If you don't enable autoRCM and boot to OFW, fuses will be burnt.

If you have a dualboot system your Sysnand you have to treat it like a regular switch you update it normally if you have a emmunand you update it through ChoiDujourNX .

The order doesn't matter. Keep in mind: If you update SysNAND "normally" you will burn fuses.

What is about this table here? If I dont burn fuses anymore, wont I have problems to use my cartridges on ofw at some time?

@MSco Always update your sysnand the official way. The switch is designed to burn fuses regardless especially when you are playing it online just imagine your dualboot you have 2 devices in 1. The emmunand you use ChoiDujourNX because you can upgrade or downgrade your CFW at zero cost to you. Lets just say you update your emmunand to 10.0.2 and you dont like it you can always downgrade back to 9.0.1 at zero cost on your emmunand. Your sysand you cant do that if you want to go online you always have to go up not down.

The chart I sent is what your fuses supposed to be officially if your fuse count doesnt match then your device will not power on officially. (Dont forget to enable AutoRCM on your emmmunand so you wont burn a fuse)

(2) And a question for updating installed titles (games) on emunand:

I can download updates officially on ofw, because I have (or had) the original cartridge. However, how can I get this update to my emunand? My solution would be the following:
a) update the game on ofw in the official way.
b) create a second emummc from sysnand
c) use nxdumptool on the second emummc to dump the update
d) install that update dump on my first emummc.

However, this seems to be overkill to me. Is there an easier method to transfer an update from sysnand to emunand without downloading the update illegally?

Sorry I wouldn't know that I never dumped my cartridges before but someone else with more experience on here can lead you in the right direction for nxdumptool

If you want to play online with SysNAND anyway, you can update first to latest firmware (10.0.2) and then create emuNAND.

If I buy a used cartridge on ebay, I cannot rule out that someone made a dump of this cartridge before. Suppose the seller made an xci dump including the certificate and he plays online on cfw with this dump, will I get problems, even if I legally play with that cartridge online on my ofw? We both would play with the same certificate online (maybe at the same time). Can my cartridge and my console be banned for this, even If I just play legit with that used cartridge online?

Hi everyone! I've been reading GBATemp since the DS times and now my time for the Switch has come! I'll try to keep my noob question simple and clear.

I bought a pre-mariko switch (v4.0.1) and, with the help of a jig and Atmosphere, I installed Tinfoil to install backups from an SD Card. I used ChoiDuJour to update to 7.0.1 I think. I NEVER connected to internet, since I always had airplane mode ON. I did a backup of my NAND and I keep it on my PC. Now, I want to buy Smash Bros. and play online. These are the steps I think I have to follow:

• Restore clean NAND backup (I'm still trying to figure out how to do it safely) so that my Switch has no CFW at all, like the first day.
• Once my Switch is 'clean', do one of these steps:
  • a) "Playing it safe" option: Don't set up emunand/sysnand. Just test online on my sysnand to see if I'm not banned and, if everything's working, buy Smash and play it without ever installing any CFW.
  • b) "Emunand" option: Set up emunand/sysnand. In the emunand, install CFW as I used to and being as careful as I can to minimize dangers. On the "sysnand", test online to see if I'm not banned and, if it's working, buy Smash and play it online.

The questions are basically two. Are the steps right? And, in the case of a ban, the only consequence is not being able to use online, right? Just as I've been doing. I want to play Smash Online so bad, so I don't mind giving up CFW for a long time if that's the safest way.

@l14muk For modifying your savefile you dont even need any kind of cfw. You can extract your savegame from your original firmware, modify it on your pc and inject it to your ofw again. This is the guide for it:

You restore your clean dump with Hekate which hopefully is clean as long as it was made before ever running CFW or homebrew. By the way, Hekate does not count as CFW or homebrew as it is an RCM payload that is loaded before the main OS is on.

Thanks for the quick answer. Yeah, let's hope the clean dump is actually clean since, as you said, it was made before running anything. I have found some guides like this one so hopefully it should not be that hard.

As for the term 'CFW', I may have used it the wrong way. What I meant is installing homebrew, backups and so on (what I was doing) in the "emunand" and going online as everyone does with purchased games in "sysnand", which is the main thing I want to do right now. If having emuMMC makes this possible, I'll go for it. I'll try to find a good tutorial here and try to familiarise with it before doing anything crazy.

I'm on 9.somthing and was thinking of upgrading to os 10 for the button remapping feature. Is there a detailed tutorial somewhere for the best way to do that? Last time I did it, I really stumbled my way through it and I'm not sure I did it right. I dont really understand the whole fuse burning thing.
