Well it could have been like having a portable only system at $200 and a 4K High performance console one at $400 Instead we got both for $300. I dunno much about the dock system except it lets me play my switch on tv and charges the battery and use USB controllers along with ethernet. Maybe more features like USB flash/HDD or some accessories will come but from what I see now is just to make the portable part work like a console. Many more people seem pleased with this than just having one or the other. Yes there is some flaws like not up to ps4 pro or xbox one x standards but nintendo hasn't really been trying to aim for that, just the "Innovation in gameplay" Having unique concepts for games rather than a powerful hardware. That mostly what they focused on.The thing about having a different system is that people would either buy the old system rather than the new system because it's cheaper and either the new or old system wouldn't have as many sales. This would make their marketing strategies easier and better.
I'm not saying any of this to be bad, just observing and sharing a opinion. If the dock is so special to the switch besides playing the game on the TV, then it has yet to be discussed in public by nintendo which is bad. If the dock does provide more than meets the eye then It should be known not hidden. Weather or not the dock that is included with the system can improve gameplay somehow, I yet to see it but if they can either by selling a new dock or accessory then just have to see about that.
