Someone here noted that GB games can be played with Super Gameboy borders and/or (?) GBC color palettes in mGBA.
I think it was @ShadowOne333 but I can't find the post.
How does this work? Did you try it on the Wii U already with success?
Afaik borders are still not implemented into mGBA, but I did see some commits lately regarding SGB border fixes on the Wii port, so I'm not sure about that.
However it seems GBC palettes are, but for some reason I couldn't get it to work properly in my latest test.

Endrift did mention that it was possible here:
https://forums.mgba.io/showthread.php?tid=3454

I tried with the mGBA PC version but couldn't make it work somehow.
Maybe I did something wrong, try it out on your side and let me know if you have any success.

Ah yeah, unfortunately that was the post I stumbled on as well. I tried it with mGBA for PC (stand alone, not RetroArch) and even set the BIOS path in the settings without any success. :(

But apparently the last guy who replied got it working to an extent.
I suggest you post in that thread as well mentioning that we have both specified the BIOS path but GBC games are not being coloured.

Did you try with the latest nightly version of mGBA for Windows?

why does snes2010 even get made im pretty sure people only use it by accident instead of snes9x

Super Mario World romhacks. Back in the day a lot of hacks were made with old inaccurate emulators like ZSnes in mind. Modern emulators ironically struggle to play them "accurately."

Snes9x 2010 was formerly known as Snes9x NEXT and was based on Snes9x 1.52, which was faster afaik. SNes9x 2005 on the other hand was based on Snes9x 1.43, perfect for ROMhacks made for ZSNES

makes sense but i'm sure everyone who just downloads retroarch to use accidentally gets snes2010 because of the year in it. Like right now I assume @Vassall89 has no intentions in playing a romhack. maybe a rename to 2017 or something would help instead of leaving no number, letting people infer to it to be version 1.
IMO Snes9x 2010 is no longer needed. Latest Snes9x (1.54.1) works perfectly. 2005 and Latest should stay.

Are you loading CFW/sigpatches like Haxchi or Mocha, etc to load the channel? If so, it won't work.

There shouldn't be any confusion about the naming system of Snes9x, that's what google is for! Most people go for the one without the numbers anyway, not the one with a date from 7 years ago. There's no need to remove a perfectly working emulator just because of it, since retroarch cores not only target specific users (like SMW romhacks) but it also targets many other platforms (there's more than Wii U users out there), upon which they can't just use the most advanced emulator, because they would lose a good chunk of the speed.
