Hi,
I've got a switch with 2.2.0 and I am wondering if it is possible to upgrade to 3.0.0 but no higher. If so, how do I do this? What will I be missing if I don't upgrade to 3.0.0?

Thanks

I am on 2.1.0,stay where you are, it's cooler to be on an older version, you don't know the differences between each version and the hack isn't out, best not to do anything!

Just enjoy the #SwitchHypeTrain, That homebrew is coming, everyone who knew about the soonTM with 3DS knows the wait all too well! It'll be shorter than 3DS wait imo!
With a system kernal exploited this early just get ready to get hype and do that "Contract for $0 with Nintendo to get all the games", MAN! No matter how long the wait I am literally hyped!
Switch seems even cooler than 3DS! #SuperHypeBros Don't Update for anything!

Why upgrade?
I thought that perhaps there might be some games that require 3.0.0 for example? If there aren't then I agree there is no reason.
I have bought Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle and it seems to play fine on my 2.2.0.

I'm so glad Breath of the Wild is a long 10/10 game! I will play that game for so long without needing any other game, I also have arms too and bomberman!!!
The hype is legit real!!!!!!!!!!! I will explore Hyrule SO FUCKING MUCH!!!, I won't need to buy another switch game :D
lol I put in about 180 hours and was finished in about 2 weeks. After defeating the final boss, there isn't too much to do endgame wise. Maybe hunt down all the mini bosses and hidden collectibles, but that's not enough incentive to go back.

I also beat Trial of the Sword modes. Just waiting on the rest of the story DLC to arrive now.

No I don't. I haven't even set up a wi-fi connection. It's literally out of the box and I skipped through all of the set up at the beginning to avoid accidentally upgrading.

It would be neat to have a list of games that require a particular firmware (e.g. are there any games that you cannot play with 1.0.0?)

A related question is: will I be able to connect to another switch wirelessly? I think some games such as NBA2K18 will allow this, but I wonder if they need to be on the same firmware. I just don't know if I'm missing anything by not upgrading, other than of course eShop games and online play.

Ah, all of those are minimum firmware correct? That's exactly what I was looking for.
So I'm already not able to play Splatoon 2 on my 2.2.0 firmware... That's OK as Splatoon for me is mostly an online multiplayer game which is out of bounds without upgrading. I suspect that most future games will require >2.2.0...
Thanks for the list!

I have 2.1.0, but yeah, Splatoon 2 was the first choice I had to make, to update or not to update! I chose not to!
God, I love Sonic Mania as well but I Hear the steam version has mods, it is better to get Steam version over Switch?
Play anywhere vs Play at home but get mods, decisions!

At any rate I gotta play 3ds on the go
at home i play Emulators, Steam Games, League of Legends, Overwatch etc.

I also just bought a second switch in order to update the first from 3.0.0 (Nintendo Account logged in).
Is FW 2.2.0 (on the new unit) in any way advantageous for hacking purposes than 3.0.0?
If no then I might as well transfer everything to the new one then update it while keeping the first on 3.

I doubt it will be advantages, even if nintendo has patched anything 2.2 > 3.0, the older it is the easier to hack!
I'd have atleast one on 2.2.0 if I were you but yeh, 3.0.0 is fine also I think! We'll see if there's any minor differences in the future!
3.0.1 is the first version that can't use this hack though!

If you have the larger micro SD patch installed then thats a plus for the 3.0.0 unit to keep.

I don't really use a MicroSD at the moment but was considering using one of I'm migrating
Was wondering which to update in case 2.2.0 has better chances or exploits (like the lack of web browser in 1.0.0)
